Lone Wolf Equipment List « Thread Started on Mar 24, 2008, 9:03pm »
Hello everyone. My 1st post, so I hope it's gonna be worth it. Thanks to all the people who worked hard to make LW books available online. Now to the point>
I have gone thru the whole LW book 1, and wrote out all the occasions, where you find or need Gold Coins, Backpack Items, Weapons and Special Items. In some cases, it was uncertain, if object is a special or backpack item, therefor I decided with my judgement, but this can be easily clarified and corrected in the future.
I myself consider this Idea interesting, because it gives you (and me) a complete list of items which can be found in every adventure, as well as it allows me to check if I should take an Item with me - if it is going to be of any value in this or further adventures.
I would like to hear from you, if you consider this idea interesting enough to do the same thing with the rest of the LW books, as well as how should the list be organized (by section, alphabetiacly, etc...)
Sections, where "Meal" is required are listed only, if food is for other purposes, then to feed Lone Wolf.
Sections, where "Weapon" is required does not list fights, but only special occasions (for example blocking the icy tunnel under Kalte)
EDIT: Items written in BOLD are uncertain if backpack item or special item. If you have an answer, that comes from later books where this item is used, or you have some clues why should be marked as one or another, write it here, I will edit it in the list.
section 0: Map of Sommerlund section 0: Helmet /+2 EP/ (2 of 0-9) section 0: Chainmail Waistcoat /+4 EP/ (4 of 0-9) section 124: Silver Key section 137: 20 Gems section 161: Golden Key section 193: A Scroll (from Giak's belt) section 267: Message written on animal skin (in Giak) section 315: Tablet of Perfumed Soap section 349: Crystal Star
Required:
section 23: Golden Key section 173: Silver Key
also, section 347 has inspired me to a footnote suggestion: in furher adventures torches are available in larger quantities, each taking one backpack space, and since the text here says: "torches", you could probably take as many as you want, each taking one backpack item space

Hey there!
Welcome to the forums. I rather like this idea. Showing what items can be found in the book, and where they can be used can help to complete those obscure side-quests that sometimes pop up. If you want to keep going, I'll certainly keep reading!
I've added your proposed footnote the the relevant Errata page. Cheers!

Hello colonel, sir! This is not only a fun idea, but it would be remarkably helpful to me, and I imagine the few others who are writing reader software for the books. When I am putting a book into my program, I work on the sections numerically (section 1, 2, 3 etc.) Sometimes, I run into a question "Do you have such and such item?" and I wonder whether it's a backpack or special item, and I have no idea until I find that item in a later(numerically speaking) section. This list would be a very useful reference!
p.s. your current organization is nice, and easy to read.

as written in the "EDIT" of 1st post:
Items written in BOLD are uncertain if backpack item or special item. If you have an answer, that comes from later books where this item is used, or you have some clues why should be marked as one or another, write it here, I will edit it in the list.
Should I list occasions where a common Bow (Book 6 and further) is required?
And one more question - has it been previously discussed, if it is possible to place special items in backpack, if special item slots are full, or to carry a backpack item in hand instead of a weapon (for examplet to rescue the potion of concentrated laumspur in Castle Death)?
Footnote suggestion: Book2, section 36 -> If you have both some laumspur, and the skill of healing, you should use laumspur. Or maybe: "If you don't have Laumspur, but you posses the skill of Healing, turn to.." (where should I post further footnote suggestions?)

Yeah, this is a very useful reference for finding items, especially stuff like alether and laumspur that you'll want to save up for later books when you get it.

What ever happened to this?
I hope the original poster is still working on this; it sounds useful.
I myself have been working on a similar list for the Grey Star series, which hasn't taken too long, since it's only 4 books. Doing this for the Lone Wolf series, though, is a daunting and ambitious task and I hope the original poster is still up to it; I'm looking forward to seeing his results.

The question of backpack /special items is answered in the old rules i believe - if no reference is given, then it is a backpack item. That the new rules forgot this clarification could cause future confusion. Tinderboxes are backpack items from later games too.

I too have done something like this. My data is stored in Excel spreadsheet so I can't post it to the board (at least not in the present format). I could render it to CSV format so that it could be "read" in other software.
I have tabulated 4 areas:
Objects (all objects found and lost) Disciplines (in what section do you use certain Kai skills) Modifiers (where the text tells you to add or subtract CS or EP) Combat (listing all battles with enemy CS/EP and notes)
