Oh, and the head of Kezoor the Necromancer ends up being pretty useless to you, too. I thought that the head of Kezoor the Necromancer was used for a purpose and you couldn't actually keep it? hmm... I guess that it's useless in that you cannot cash it for yourself. SPOILER sect 80

Queen Evaine owes Lone Wolf 10000 Lune... Which is only about 2500 Gold Crowns. Now, if the books had let LW sell that Diamond worth thousands of crowns, he could have broken even . . . ;D

How can having the Vordak Gem get you killed? I know it can save your life in the Graveyard. Someone refresh my memory. Oh, come on. There's at least one guy who buys Special Items from you for about two gold crowns per item. Nothing to sneeze at! It's 8 gold crowns, actually. But you can only get the option if you just spent a bunch of money on the GCR.

Red Herrings (count as 1 meal ) are good. OK, maybe Mr. Dever did go a little overboard, esp. on the special items which had very little in-game value yet were supposed to be worth thousands of crowns, yet couldn't be sold. Unless, and this is a just created hypothesis, the Gems, Diamonds etc. were sold to finance the rebuilding of the Kai Monastery, hence the reason LW couldn't sell them (aside from the fact that you couldn't carry more than 50 GC anyway...).

Oh yeah, that's why I kept those diamonds... Lone Wolf, flashing a diamond in front of a mason and workers..."Now, sirree, will that be enough to pay for the rebuilding of the Monastery?" Mason, eyes bulging..."Yes, milord!!!" A short distance away...Lone Wolf's girlfriend (I don't know who.) is pouting... "That was supposed to be his engagement ring to me! WAH!!!"

It had been a while since I'd read the book and after my first time in the Graveyard I took the Crypt Spawn path instead of looking at the sarcophagus anyway, so my memory was a bit hazy. Well, seeing as how his girlfriend was supposed to be the much-reviled Q*nefer, I'm not too torn up about it.

Ah, but the Silver Box is a backpack item! So it's still worthless! [darn] you Count Conundrum! Just found that confounded thing in my German book version of The Jungle of Horrors. Now I'm somewhat confused, as it says (retranslated, of course) "mark it on your Action Chart as a Special Item". I was about to tell you that when I checked the online version ... and found "[...] as a Backpack Item" there! Probably different editions of the book. Oh, well, bad luck for you! The Wytch-King, already counting his new wealth (of 8 gold crowns)

I've got a 30-year-old bar of soap in my backpack which I put into safekeeping before going to Kazan-Oud. You never know when a few fish mightn't be enough for Lone Wolf to woo a lady!

I house ruled that you can use the soap to make the Chaos Master slip over in book 11. That's assuming you don't use it in the baths in Book 5. ;D
