I would've. Most of the holidays here are based around commerce and the Hallmark industries. Half of the stuff was made up, and the other half has lost most of its original value or message.

I'm Scot-Irish, yeh bloody heathens! You know that Scots-Irish are actually Ulster Scots... Scots colonists who moved from Scotland to Ireland... they actually have no Irish blood in them. Most people in the US do not realize that.

Wasn't there some sort of stat a few years ago that stated the number of "Irish" people in New York alone actually exceeded the population of Ireland . . . ?

yeah, same with Scottish... people who are 1/10th something are starting to ID with it, here in Scotland we are looking at this phenomena as a way of generating inward investment

Interesting, most people who identify as Scots-Irish are from the Ulster scots group, you really are Scots Irish!
And for the record, the majority of Irish are actually pretty nice people, gong there to visit friends in a few weeks.
