I beg to differ And no, it's not a trick question, but it is one of those ones that makes you think, "why didn't I know that anyway?" NS.

So it's what I might refer to as a "kickself problem"? I await enlightenment.

Senator/Emperor Palpatine?

Senator/Emperor Palpatine? Afraid not. While Ian McDiarmid is one of only a few actors seen in both the original movies and the new ones Palpatine does not appear in A New Hope. The hologram in The Empire Strikes Back is not him either, being instead a special effect created by combining the faces of a woman and a lemur, if you can believe that. Therefore McDiarmid's Star Wars debut is in Return of the Jedi. PS: I would like to point out that I am not the drooling Star Wars fanboy this post makes me appear. For instance, I simply cannot think of any actors who are in all six films apart from Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker.

The original scene from The Empire Strikes Back, you mean. In the DVD versions, they filmed the actor who plays Palpatine and replaced old lemur-hag woman. Nor, I would like to point out, am I a drooling Star Wars fan. I liked the films as a kid, but watching them recently, I was struck by how shallow they are, and by how variable the acting is in the films. They're still good fun, but nothing like as good as they are made out to be. And IMO, the DVD Special Editions are far and away superior to the cacky, fuzzy originals with their low quality special f/x. Viva CGI and viva digital picture remastering! Jar-jar Binks was truly crap, though. It's a good job there's no flamers on this forum, or I'd probably be toast in about 5 minutes! ;D

Well, yes it is Palpatine. Bearing in mind that I lifted that question from an official Star Wars Making of ~ book, I think that their interpretation is the valid one In the interests of fairness however, I'll ask a different one. What is Palpatine's first name? NS.

Let's see... officially, it hasn't been revealed. Unofficially, it's "Cos," because in the original scripts, he was called "Cos Da[nuts]" (which will probably get censored). And some people call him Dantius, which would appear to have actually originated from SuperShadow.
Yep, got censored. Cos D a s h i t.

Jar-jar Binks was truly crap, though. I was in Blockbuster today and saw the DVD movies for sale ex-rental. I could get the trilogy for £12. The only thing that stopped me was the thought of missing out on extras - should I grab these DVDs, or is the boxset worth it? PS: Moo, I love that penguin animation! Thanks for the laughs!

Uh oh, the last time I played a gamebook was when I was about... 12. They were mostly cheap, off-brand ones, since that's all I could get.
Uhh... maybe I'd better ask a trivia question about text adventures instead.
Which text adventure came with a scratch 'n' sniff card?

Infocom's "Leather Goddesses" came with a scrath and sniff pad that is referred to throughout the game. But, to be honest, I never played it. I was 2 when it came out. I didn't even have a computer.
But I somehow know these things...

They're still good fun, but nothing like as good as they are made out to be. That's how I see them. Good, solid action films, but no where near the unbelievable 'best thing ever' that I keep hearing from a lot of people. -GB

Hey, I wouldn't feel bad, that was indeed a difficult question. I just happened to know the answer, that's all Okay, as much as I'd love to stay in the realm of video game trivia, I'll pull this back to gamebooks. Okay, this one may be too tough, but here it goes. The following passage is one of the deaths from a gamebook. So mas not to totally give away the answer, the main female character's name has been changed to "you": "I'm not going to turn back now, onto the palace," you say firmly. "I hope I find water soon," you say as you continue plodding on under the scorching sun. Your throat is aching with thirst. Weak from the heat, you begin to stumble, tripping over the smallest pebbles. Still you walk on wearily, but it seems that no matter how far you walk, the palace is still on the horizon. "Ow!" You fall facedown in the dust. With great effort, you look ahead. There's nothing there! "The palace was a mirage!" you cry. You slump back down. "This must be the middle of the Tantari desert, and I have no water," you moan. "I'll never get out!"Name the gamebook that this passage comes from
