help?

I want to try this ds game out through an emulator on my pc, but i'm technologically challenged to say the least.
I downloaded a program called NDeSmuME 22 (a ds emulator), plus the FFtD rom file, but when i load it I only get a black screen. Do I need to do something else, like a patch or something?
The readme mentions a DLDI driver, but i have no idea what that is or even if it applies if I'm using an emulator.
I'd appreciate any help I can get, as I'd very much like to give this a go, maybe even buy a ds to do it properly on if more books are made.
Cheers!

Since the program has been confirmed to work on real DS hardware, it might be a compatibility problem with the emulator (like the aforementioned driver issue).

I don't emulate current systems, so can't help with this I'm afraid.

Ok, no worries mate. I've tried it on a couple of different emulators and I think the DLDI patch that the FAQ mentions is the key. Only thing I have no idea what it is, where to get it, or how to apply it to an emulated version. So if someone could help me with it, I'd be very appreciative. As an aside, I own a DS, but don't want to spend the money on the kit needed to play homebrew games until I've tried the lone wolf reader.

I think it is needed to make the emulator boot DS homebrew but I'm not completely certain. Y'know, an R4 is pretty cheap these days...

I tried lots of emulaters, none worked, i got an R4 for my DS and everything was great, if you realy want it go for it you wont regret it! if you have a DS R4s are super cuz you can get lots of other games and apps on the web, thing like DSOrganizer which lets you send email and lots of other things, you can also put videos mp3s and photos on an R4. cost is around £30-35 worth every penny. Good Luck

Somewhere during the course of this thread, I ordered an R4. It arrived today. It cost £25 including a 2 gig micro SD card, reader, and yet more stupid styluses. Surely every DS owner must have a million of those things by now. Any homebrew games recommendations? (Legal ones, of course!)

Thanks! Time to get downloading! Edit: The Lone Wolf DS site linked to from the Books page on Project Aon seems to contain nothing but text though.

Had a quick go on Brix DS thus far. It's a cool physics-based puzzler similar to this excellent Flash game I completed earlier this week.
