There's a chart somewhere showing what you can wear together. I think there was only one combo you couldn't use.

Not that any attempt is made for the books to be historically accurate. :-P But I like that there's a reason :-)
I don't mind that I got rid of mine though. I was so overpowered by the end of book 2, that I just slept my way through 3 and 4. Just starting 5 now. :-)

The best I've ever tried was a 14/26 run with both Mindblast and Weaponskill... I got on the Hall of Fame!

With my luck, I'll get one, then crash the #&*^@*$ program and lose it. Or better yet, click something suicidal when not paying attention, so it's all my fault. I think my 10/25 BtB is the lowest I rolled (& the only 10CS BtB in the HoF ; I had a something/20, but those last few CS points are terrible to lose; they drop a lot more fights into harm-inducing territory and you get worn down. (I intend to come back to playing at some point, I just got busy and dropped it. I've killed a few 10/20 Hardcores trying to avoid animal mastery - you HAVE to take the spear, and that combat boils down to statistics, which are NOT favorable. I accidentally overwrote a deathless HC, but it wasn't 10/20.)
I've been meaning to write a rough odds calculator . . .

You can choose your stats for hardcore (following some rules)

You can choose your stats for hardcore (following some rules) Yeah, hence being able to kill off several 10/20s I *want* to try one BtB though. The challenges and strategies are different. (Actually, it would be totally within the spirit of the rules to allow one to adjust skills *downward* at creation time for BtB, wouldn't it? Otherwise I'm going to have to scum-start for ages, and then cry like a little girl when I lose him. )

You're right, curunauth. I'm trying to think of a reasonable way to do this. Perhaps directly lowering the value in the action chart before you start is the best way. So, if a player has their CS and/or EP picked, they can adjust them downward from there. Once the player has begun the book, no more adjusting. (And no adjusting it downward at the beginning of subsequent books, either.)
That sounds reasonable. I'll see if I can incorporate it for the next release. (most likely)

Book 2 will not allow me to choose an extra discipline having finished book 1. Anyone else had this problem?

Are you using the hardcore rules? If so, that would be why. They're effectively a 'very hard' ruleset. One rule is that you don't get extra disciplines.

Book 2 will not allow me to choose an extra discipline having finished book 1. Anyone else had this problem? pi4t hit it on the nose. I'm guessing you've got "hardcore" rules selected or just the "Limit to 5 disciplines" option, which is part of the hardcore rules. Will you double check for me, though, and post whether that's the case or not? I'd hate for some weird bug to be getting in the way.

YAYY! You have prevented many puellile lacrimations, good sir! So, why the feminine version of the word? Are you pulling a Zipp here? BTW, I've already incorporated your suggestion, so it's in for sure in the next release.

Hi there, First, I want to thank you for making this program who remembered me moments a quarter of century old So I have made my first run through the books (quite stressing when approaching the end of them as we really don't want to have to go through the book from the start as there's no cheating there ) and notices two things that could be corrected in the next version : On Book 2, Chapter 333, it is stated that the harbor thugs have a tatoo on their left wrist, but the picture is a right wrist, so it could be useful to mirror the picture to match the text On Book4, when we are on a wooden bridge and have to take a torch in our backpack, thus losing an item (chapter 22), we can choose to lost the Tinderbox necessary to lit the torch, is it realistic and working as intended ? Nothing very important though, only two quick observations of a new player through his first run (and eagerly waiting for the next books and -who knows ? Maybe one day - the World of Lone Wolf books)
