Backstabbers in Varetta are avoidable. You just have to meet the right person Yep- always nice to meet the right people

Aw man, yeah I found the way around them. All these years of reading LW and I never knew you could bypass that section of the book. =\

Totally, that's one thing that's great about the awards. I've seen so many new sections and taken different paths that I otherwise would not have seen.

Not sure if this is a bug or I'm just being a bit dense... on the chance it's the former rather than the latter I'll post here.
Book 3 - Caverns of Kalte. The award for the "sadistic thief" doesn't seem to be awarded at the end of the book. I'm playing v1.7.4 of Seventh Sense.
I've done everything according to the hints (and have gotten every other award for books 1-3 without issue (albeit the Kalkoth one was tough, as was the one for Kalte starting with no equipment), and even tried to interpret and make assumptions of other things for the hints.
I've tried... Used a dagger to successfully pick the lock of the chest w/ the Silver Helmet. Found Graveweed Potion and used it on the Ice Barbarians. Took the Diamond (thief action of sorts). Butchered the Ice Barbarians for the Firesphere (sadistic thief?) Rolled successfully to evade the Ice Barbarians and enter Vonotar's chamber.
My character does not have Mind over Matter, Camouflage or Hunting as skills either. No award still.... am I missing something obvious or is it a bug on v1.7.4? I've played Caverns of Kalte quite a few times now, and all other awards were more or less fairly easy.. but no dice on this one.
Be gentle folks, it's my first ever post here. Been a fan of Lone Wolf since the late 80s, and only rediscovered my love of the series after coming across the Project Aon site and Seventh Sense. Dave - you've done some amazing work and rekindled my love of this series. Phenomenal job!

From what you said, you made ONE unlucky roll which should be clear if you have all the clues (complete the Kai series on Hardcore). Good luck when you try again, and welcome to the forums

For my part - I double checked the code against kamikaze's requirements for the award, and it looks correct. No bug here - just a tough award to earn! You are almost there, though, so don't give up! (Make sure you know *all* of the clues).

Good luck when you try again, and welcome to the forums Thanks. Yep, I have all the clues. Already played through the series on Hardcore, just to unlock clues for some of the other awards. Oh well, i'll try again at some point and see if I have any luck. I'm sure it's something obvious... Dave - thanks very much for checking the code. I feel guilty even suggesting it, particularly since it was fine all along... just my own denseness in not working out the clues.

"Some would call it an unlucky roll, but it's real lucky when you just want to hurt someone."As I understand the clue, you have to fail the roll, and fight the barbarians. Maybe this is the reason...

Thanks Honza. In the end I re-did my campaign from scratch, where I had Weaponskill in Dagger. Since I was failing so many rolls with picking that lock otherwise, it was doing my head in on the re-attempts. Got the award on the second attempt. I had failed that roll before, but I suspect there was something else I may have done differently in previous attempts... you try something so many times and it kinds blurs what you did and didn't try.

I got through an interesting event in book 10 that made me think about an award. Actually you can defeat both Baron Shinzar and Tagazin with the Sommerswerd in the same playthrough, since this event allows you to enter the Isle of Ghosts after the Battle of Cetza. Since they both have high stats (CS 40 or something) that would be quite hard, but you can probably do it with BTB rules.
I also wonder why there is no award for defeating Kimah with the Sommerswerd (unless I'm mistaken and one of the awards I didn't get for book 9 is precisely that), when this is probably one of the hardest feats to accomplish in the whole LW series :x

Thanks for the idea! There's a reason why taking the Sommerswerd to Kimah isn't an award- that fight is actually part of an award for completing both the Kai and Magnakai series, where you bring the SS on every quest it's available. I've also got a "Boss Fight" I've been thinking of that goes through all 20 books- fighting the hardest combats in each. (I know a few people are going to curse my name yet again LOL)

Found the path - after the battle, section 4. You need either of the two disciplines/ranks to cross the river downstream. Then you need to fail the roll to end up on the Isle.

Hi guys,
i have got a problem with the last award in book 3 maybe you can help me out?
Book 3, Tempt fate award
SPOILER!
I chose the longer route, balancing with the sledge on the edge of a cervasse.
Did suffer some serious frostbite.
Did take a dive through the shrinking gap of a closing stone door.
Did flee from an icy cyclone.
Did put a golden bracelet on my wrist.
And played untill the very end.
I have no idea what else I could to do to gain this award.

OK, got another question about one of the achievements, specifically the low combat count in Book 4. From the hints, it seems to imply:
Get the Holy Water flask from monks in Section 78, and engage in single-round mounted combat in Section 333.
If you get the Holy Water, there is an unavoidable combat in Section 233, then the mounted combat in 333, and there is a fight that is unavoidable via any track (that I can find) in Section 186.
Since the Achievement says to only engage in two combats, I'm about to tear my hair out on this one. I actually drew up a flowchart for the whole dang thing to see if I was missing something.
Any advice would be appreciated!

There's another way to get Holy Water in the book. It is well-hidden deep in the mines. Don't go to Eshnar, and keep your men alive as long as you can.
