I'd be glad to help out! I have one or two in mind, but I'd have to refresh my memories on the books to make sure. I'll review them and post later what I find.

So, I'm tearing my hair out a bit on the no equipment run in book 3. If I'm doing it right, I'm stuck punching a kalkoth to death. He doesn't want to die and he's making me cry =( There's no way around this, right? I'm not allowed to pick up a blue stone triangle?
FINALLY managed to kill the stupid kalkoth... only to be one combat round too slow beating Akraa’Neonor. This challenge... is so cruel ='(
*desperately tries to select weaponskill with fists*
Also, another question. Im trying to get the award for not using the SS or the glowing stone to kill Haakon. I wound up in battle with him. I tried to hit him with a magic spear, but it wouldnt damage him. So, I switched to the dagger of Vashna, and killed him. This didnt net me the reward though. What specifically do I have to do? I had the SS on me at the time of the fight, but it wasnt equipped.

The award hints do indeed say to not use the Sommerswerd (albeit you should have it unequipped), nor the glowing stone... but it doesn't mention you have to beat him......

Got the award a little while ago. I was being too clever for my own good =P
Having trouble with another award. Trying to get the award for wielding the SS for 3 out of 4 combats in hardcore. By my count, Ive used the SS in 97 battles and fought without it for 25, which SHOULD be good. The caveat is that I ditched the SS in the middle of book 11.
Anyone have any idea why the award isnt being triggered? Is it because I need to retain the SS at the end of the series? (I thought I was being clever). Or were one of the combats I was in one of those -temporarily unarmed- combats that screwed me? Has anyone gotten the award *while* ditching the SS permanently at some point?
Just for data purposes...
Disciplines 1) Weaponmastery 2) Psi-Surge 3) Psi-Screen 4) Curing 5) Huntmastery
B2 5/5 (max) B3 9/9 (max without fighting kalkoths) B4 16/16 B5 19/19 (took limbdeath path) B6 11/12 (max with getting silver oak bow) B7 10/12 (max with current discipline selection) B8 15/15 (max with current discipline selection) B9 0/3 (best score /w current disciplines and throwing dagger of Vashna) B10 7/7 B11 5/13 (ditching the SS for Ironheart) B12 0/11
SS = 97 Non-SS = 25
I mean, I guess I could try to kill the Chaos-master with the SS, but damn that battle is frustrating, especially so late in the book =( Thats really not something I want to try.
Edit: Tried again by just leaving the SS at home for books 10 and 11. This gives me values for those of...
B10 0/4 B11 0/8 B12 1/9
Which gives me a total of 86 combats with the SS versus 26 combats without. That should still be good... Im giving up due to frustration, now.

When going for this award, it's important to note that in order for a combat to count as using the sommerswerd, it must be equipped for every round of the battle (even combats where you are forced to fight unarmed for X rounds - it's still keeping track of the weapon in your "equipped" slot)
So, if you are switching weapons mid-fight, that would negate that combat from the "used SS" list and put it on the "didn't use SS list".
Also, did you have any fights in book 1? Those count toward the total as well. And the fights in book 2 before you get the SS...
(AND, I'm pretty sure you need to have the sommerswerd in your possession as you finish... I'll check the code on that, but I think that's how it works. It kinds of fits in with the whole theme of the award, you know...)

Hmm. The wording of the award is "Try a Hardcore run for the first 12 books, and after obtaining the Sommerswerd, wield it in at least 3 out of every 4 combats." I had assumed the counter only tracked battles started after the SS was in the inventory. I'm pretty sure I hadn't been weapon switching, but it's good to know that battles in which you are unarmed are okay as long as the SS is equipped. I assume this also lasts for battles in which you are unarmed the entire battle, but still have the SS equipped? (I can only think of one fight where this is the case, and it's the final fight of book... 8? If you decide to aid Paido. )
I guess I'll keep the SS in my inventory at the end, as well. Despite how nice it is to ditch it in the middle of book 11 when convenient =P
Anyway, I'll give this another shot, I suppose. I guess I may have made a mistake or two somewhere, but I did leave an enormous margin. We'll see. Thanks for the quick response.

Well, that was it. It must have been the confusion about the first two books, whether battles counted before you acquired the SS. Was able to get it pretty quickly after that. I'll have to try again with throwing the SS away and see if that works =P I think most of the difficulty lay in figuring out exactly how and when it's being tracked. I know those battles where you became disarmed had me scared! Maybe add something in the hints to this effect?
I'm also thinking about the whole SS use in book 12. I mean, we see that if drawn in specific battles it will draw furious hell upon you, but it's quite possible to use the SS in and around those sections if left equipped since you're never actually forced to sheathe it. I suggest a forced sheathing or perhaps having to go to page 208 (iirc the loss page for unsheathing the SS in Helgedad) in book 12 if it's used like that.
Edit: Ah, I had forgot to mention. The other thing that had done me in was the fight with the Elix (sp?) in book 5. You're cured from limbdeath after that fight, and for some reason the SS becomes *unequipped* after that battle. This seems unintentional and I don't think the action chart focuses on this so it's really easy to miss (unless it's your dozenth time going through a HC SS run and you're getting paranoid as to what could be going wrong =P). Maybe that section can be tweaked a bit? Even if one isn't doing a SS run, they probably won't catch their weapon being unequipped.

Hi guys!
I could use a little help with the award for storing as much treasure items as possibe.
Spoiler alert!
No problems in storing the 200 gold crowns.
But what items do count as treasures? Diamonds and Gems I guess, sacks of silver too?
What about trade items? Not sure about that. Construction items could be shovels und picks.
English is not my native language so i'm not too sure what is meant.
Could really need some help: I played the 12 books twice so far without any success and don't know what I could do different.

Yes, anything obvious like gems and precious metals count as treasures. Most collectible trinkets and knick-knacks (especially if made of a substance that could be valuable) also count as treasure or trade goods. You're right about construction items. Multiples of items do count.
What you might be missing is that 200 gold is not enough. Pay close attention to that part of the description/requirement.

Thank you for your help zliplus. Do i have to collect 200 gold in EACH currency? I did collect 200 gold and some amount of each currency but not 200 of each.

Hi, I started playing again recently and I am currently doing the Kai books. I am playing BtB and there is no storage option. Since it has been some time I am not sure if this is intentional and you can only store stuff in the Magnakai books or if it is a bug, so I am just checking. Because that would mean that I can only do the storing item achievements with prodigy mode, contrary to their description..

Think by the book you can only store gold book 5+ and Special items book 8+ but Spec. Item limit of 12 only appears in Book 8 so technically you can have unlimited Special Items up to the end of Book 7 I guess.

The description for those "storage" awards says "BTB/HC/Prodigy". But really, you'd only be able to do it on Prodigy, because, there is no option mentioned in the books (until book 5) of storing anything, so you can't do it until then. I'll have to modify the description so it matches reality. (And yes, you can actually hold on to as many special items as you want in BTB mode until you hit book 8, and then you have to discard down to 12 before starting the adventure- excluding those extra special items that don't count toward your limit, of course!)

Yes I think some Special Items like the Black Sash from book 5 and Platinum Amulet Book 7 would not count towards your limit if they appeared in later books, well the Platinum Amulet certainly doesn't.

Dave: Well teoretically its possible to do these even with BtB, I actually managed to do the weapons and potions medals in BtB. I guess special items weapons do count too and since there is storage in book 5 I was able to store my backpack full of potions and get all potions in book 5 to actually get the reward :-D
