One thing that I've found is interesting is the way the "Gods" showing up influences the story. For example, in The Caverns of Kalte I had both Kai and Ishir appearing back to back after I knocked the one Ice Barbarian down and was going to kill him in front of his kid. The implication was that they both wanted that poor bastard dead. Or that this moment was significant in LWs life (perhaps years from now the child of that Ice Barbarian will become one of LWs great enemies).
Further down, Kai showed up during the Bow contest with Alten during The Kingdoms of Terror, which seemed to mean that he wanted LW to win the Silver Bow of Duadon. And in Castle Death, Naar showed up to help curse the battle LW was having with a jail guard, causing it to become quite a bit more even.

How about a score system? A method I invented consists of 4 parts:
Loot
This is to account for all those valuable-but-useless items (eg sacks of silver, etc). Any items you leave in safekeeping, lose at the end of book 12-start of book 13 or finish your adventure with is given (by you) a value in GC, and this is added to your score. If you later remove an item from safekeeping, subtract its value from your score again.
Battles
Simply enough, this is a score for winning battles. Each time you win a battle, double your enemy's CS, add its E, divide by 5 and add it to your score. Round up.
Heroic Acts
This was invented mainly to prevent LW going on a killing spree of innocent civilians. You simply add or subtract as you feel correct, as LW acts heroically or unheroically. For instance, stealing a dagger and meal in FFTD might cost Lw the value of the items in GC (ie about 3), whereas killing an enemy outside combat would add the amount LW would probably have got had he fought it in combat.
Deaths (optional)
This answers the long term question of: what happens if you die? You have 3 options:
Go back to the start of the game, resetting everything (including score). This costs 1 point (to prevent too much rerolling of stats)
Go back to the start of a book. In this case you must reset everything to how it was then. It costs 10 points per book you go back (so if you restart your current book, lose 10 points, if you go back to the book before, lose 20 etc)
Go back 1 or more references, or finish the combat. If you die by in instant death reference, lose 50 points per reference you go back (plus anything you gained in the meantime). You may also do this if you have not died (eg if you took a wrong turning and doomed yourself). If you lose by loss of E, whether in or out of the combat, lose 50 points, restore your E to full and carry on (finish the combat if you died in combat). If you died by a K in combat, lose 50 points and carry on the fight.
Hope that wasn't too complicated!

I came up with scoring systems for LW as a kid as part of my attempts to make LW into a computer game series. The points also worked as EXP and would raise your stats every so often.
I wonder if I should come up with a more in-depth scoring system and post it here.
