jdubs - Can you give me a section number in book 12 that you are on that this yellow message is appearing on? I'm puzzled by the report, but we'll get it fixed for sure! (Oh, and for using the Dagger in book 9 - you must have had the "other" dagger - you can use a special dagger from book 9, in place of the Dagger of Vashna, in prodigy mode. spoiler : Maghana's Dagger) The reclaim items thing is potentially related to the section where you are robbed - you can get that item back if you go to a certain section of the book, so it's not possible to get it back at the end of the book. I don't know what would cause the crash, but I've had a couple of a random crashes myself when trying to switch action chart pages, so it might be related to that... I hate intermittent crashes like that, hard to track down... For Book 12, Section 75.. I try to push the "fight" button and nothing happens.. when I scroll over the button it gives me the yellow note saying only a weapon that can harm a darklord can injure my opponent... using the dagger of Vashna against a darklord grants a larger bonus than usual etc."

Yes, I see it now. looking into it... Found it. Easy fix. You'll be able to pick it up and continue right where you left off... (If you are still stuck on that section, anyway.) I'll release a bugfix in a few days.

It wasn't in prodigy mode. it was during my by the book run.. I just double checked in an old profile and the other dagger works definitely in by the book as well as prodigy mode. I don't recall for sure if I had the other dagger when it worked previously but I probably did.

I'll try it out in windows without that include and I'll see what happens... Sounds like your installation is confused about where to look for the book info... or it's missing... Try locating the data files for each book; they follow the naming scheme Xdata.7z (where X is the book number). you should have 1 each for books 1-12 in the appropriate folder inside "data/books/bookX" in your installation directory. See if they are all present. If not, that's the problem. Thanks - I've tried putting the 7z files in the install directory and under ~/Documents. Neither seems to have worked so far, but when I get some time I'll try debugging it a bit and see if I can figure out what's happening. I suspect I've mucked it up in some subtle and cunning fashion... It does work fine under Wine so I've been able to get a quick fix from that anyway. A minor suggestion - in section 171 of book 12 (fighting Kraagenskul after choosing to use the Dagger of Vashna) it would be nice if it automatically equipped the dagger, since you've chosen to and the flavour text clearly suggests you're using it. I fought the first round of combat without realising I was still using a normal sword, which then doesn't do him any damage!

Okay, looks like the problem was with my system physfs install which didn't have 7z support. I'm not fully sure how I managed to play through to book 7 without it - maybe I had zipped versions instead which have now been lost in all the thrashing around I made while trying to pin down the problem. Thanks for your help with it, anyway!

I fought the first round of combat without realising I was still using a normal sword, which then doesn't do him any damage! Good suggestion, archangel - I'll put that into the next release. I'm glad you got things working - I'm not sure how you managed to play books 1-7... but you can do all of them now? good!

Book 9, section 82
I fought in combat exactly 4 rounds, and both section references (to 247 and 151) are available.
Maybe after fourth round you should not continue in combat (according to what happens in section 151).

Another small thing. Book 8 section 13, when I choose combat with 6 turns, the second choice is "If combat lasts more than seven rounds..." and it should be "If combat lasts more than six rounds.."

Good suggestion, archangel - I'll put that into the next release. I'm glad you got things working - I'm not sure how you managed to play books 1-7... but you can do all of them now? good! I'm running through on Hardcore at the moment - up to book 10 so far without a restart, but I think things are about to get much harder... One more thing: the buttons on the Action Chart to swap between Kai/Magnakai disciplines show up as red squares. Looks like the problem is that in action_chart.cpp they're in upper case ("K", "M", "G") but the actual file names are lower case, so it comes to grief in a case-sensitive filesystem. That's the only case like that I've seen so far though.

One more minor thing: the Black Key in section 177 of book 10 is labelled in the text as a Backpack Item, but it seems to be treated as a Special Item instead.

Just an observation:
1.12.3 By the book run
During Kai series I had Weaponskill in Dagger. In book 6 I chose Weaponmastery in Sword, Bow and Warhammer. When I use a dagger, there is no +2 weaponskill bonus.
It maybe should be the same as "Kai Mindblast but no Psi-surge" issue.

Good catch, Honza. Currently, it *does* grant a "Weaponskill" bonus in the Magnakai, UNLESS you have Weaponmastery... I can see that it should still add the bonus for Weaponskill even if you have Weaponmastery, unless you've taken Weaponmastery in the weapon you are using... etc. etc. In other words, I agree completely - I meant to do it that way, but I missed the target! archangel - thanks for the heads up on the blank red square. I intentionally decided upon a bright, obnoxious image as a default if the program couldn't find the file, so that it was obvious when an image was missing or the code was incorrect. Fortunately, that's an easy fix. I'll double check the Backpack/Special Item Key thing...

Issues fixed: -Special dagger in book 9 usable only in prodigy mode. Added same option for corresponding dagger from other path. - Black Key *is* a special item. changed book text to reflect it. (most recent html on Proj Aon has Special Item) - buttons of "K" "M" should be fixed in case sensitive filesystems now. - Book 8, sec 13 now reads correctly if "6" is chosen for max number of rounds. - Book 9, sec 82 you can only have one option active at a time (the right one!) - a few other things. - Weaponskill bonus when you have weaponmastery in other weapons than the weaponskill one. - corrected some font hinting issues with later versions of sdl_ttf library. This may account for the random odd comment about how ugly the default font is... from other online places, at least (and probably from non-windows users). It's just fine with the right hinting! - Book 12 ,sec 188 - option for recognition of Adgana in book 12 is now fixed. (OR not AND!) - removed <curl/types.h> from code - works just fine without it, and will compile better on linux. - fixed a dumb crash when resizing fonts mid-game and switching action chart pages... One less seemingly random crash! - fixed alternate Mongoose Stats battles to always be hardest values on Hardcore! (They were supposed to be like this anyway, but now they really are!) - the "Drop" button in the Action chart will now act like a "deposit" button, on books/rulesets where you can access storage. Once you begin a book, it will revert to "Drop". Should make storing items easier at beginning of books. (same applies to money) - can no longer click "reduce CS" button *after* beginning the book! - Added "Potion of Alether" to book 10 starting equipment as per Mongoose edition.
I also added a couple of things to make Book 11 and 12 Fresh starts a bit more possible (Thanks Honza).

I updated my libs to the latest versions... 2 years out of date... Fixed the font-rendering issue, as noted above. Fixed the regular .png loading issues, so they appear correctly, and don't give warnings. Now I gotta fix the .png from archive loading... Once I do that, I should be able to release 1.12.4...
