At least the 30 second riddle is no tribble at all Certainly easy enough to include in any computerised version though - plus you can hide the riddle until the player commits to it

Dave, I was wondering- as there is a certain amount of debate over how to handle the transition to GM in terms of CS scores- what your intentions are regarding this. A very vocal cross section of contributors are convinced that Lone Wolf should transfer his stats across unchanged from 12 to 13, despite the massive boost for a fresh GM of 15 CS. I won't go into the various explanations of this that have been posted over the years, but I do think that the opinions of those that disagree with this interpretation could be respected by having 2 options; one to transfer the stats straight (plus final Circle boni), and one to either reroll using new base numbers (as the wording of the text implies you can do) or simply add another 10CS on top of LC boni. There could be a third option even; keep the old scores but add 4CS and 8EN for the 4 starting GM disciplines.... Any thoughts on this issue yet....?

This very topic is now burning away over on the mailing lists... The preference seems to be for the reader to keep their stats, bonuses & equipment from previous books (as with prior evolutions) The game should probably present the reader with the choices though?

This very topic is now burning away over on the mailing lists... The preference seems to be for the reader to keep their stats, bonuses & equipment from previous books (as with prior evolutions) The game should probably present the reader with the choices though? Choice, quite. I propose that a player using a stat boost should still qualify for By The Book status, after all it does still (at present ) present you with an implied choice (use of the word 'can'). The masochistic system of continuing with clearly inadequate stats that rely on scooping every single stat-boosting item & good RND scores to boot should be left to 'Hardcore' mode. However, I fear that the Tyranny of the Majority will spit out their collective dummies if such radical concessions are made to common sense ;D, so a meeker alternative could be only boosting the CS on 'Prodigy' mode. As for 'prior evolutions', there was only one other series transition- from 5 to 6- and not only were there no new, massively altered levels for generating CS for a fresh character, there were no descriptions of 'remarkable changes taking place within your body'! Still, you do a fantastic job Dave, & I'm sure we will all play the books no matter what interpretation of the rules you decide on...

Any hope that Book 13 will be done by the end of the year?

No real progress on it yet. RL keeps getting in the way. Plus, I'd like to give kamikaze a chance to finish GM awards before releasing Book 13... Since we've got such a good thing going with the awards system, it ought to be in place for any future book releases.

Any update from either Dave or Kamikaze?
Kamikaze: Can we others help you with award items? and if "yes" which books would you get suggestions on?

Sorry, nothing yet. Real life, you know... (for both of us!) But have no fear - it'll happen eventually!

Kamikaze: Can we others help you with award items? and if "yes" which books would you get suggestions on? As of right now, my biggest pain with the GM series awards is the Mischievous branch, and the near total lack of opportunities to misbehave, or even take actions that could be mistook for less-than-honorable deeds. This is one area I think might benefit from some new eyes looking at it, since I'd like to have at least one award of each type per book. The central theme is that of extreme indifference, cowardice, harming the innocent, and/or theft from good/neutral NPCs- basically actions that are either intentional or could be perceived to bring a stain to the honor of Lone Wolf and the Kai. Just about anything goes against the baddies, so it's a bit more focused towards actions against the innocent and "almost-innocent". Anyone interested in volunteering to help with this, thoughts on a single instance in a single Grand Master book are more than welcome. Right now, from some of my notes, I've got one for Legacy of Vashna and I think the Curse of Naar (though I have to double check that one), so it's pretty much the rest of the GM series I'd like some help with. Also, it might help cut down on clutter to post any ideas in the awards thread here. Thanks in advance for anyone who volunteers

What sort of help is needed in general? I'd love to help with pretty much any aspect of it. The awards currently out have given me plenty of frustration/fun while I've gone through them, and would love to lend help anywhere it's needed. I'll start by reading through the GM books and watching out for those awards, but if anything else needs doing, go ahead and ask! (Doesn't hurt =P)
Also, are there some arguments/debates ongoing about how to handle the transfer between series? I'd like to check those out and weigh in, if it's still being considered. If not, I'll be happy with whatever was decided so far.

Sorry guys, No work done on book 13 over Thanksgiving... The awards thing kamikaze mentioned would actually be a big help, because I won't release Book 13, even when I get it done, until the awards are in place for it.
I can't think of any particular help that would move things along. I just need more hours in the day, so if you can help with that - please do!
(And when it comes to moving on to the GM series from Magnakai, there will be plenty of options, of course. There is no actual debate for Seventh Sense, though, beyond the many pre-existing ones)
