Can anyone say what this is about? Personally I had my doubts about some of the liberties they took with the old texts ie FFTD, but I am shocked by this sudden break. are there bigger and better plans afoot?

Hi, new poster here - refugee from the Mongoose boards! Can anyone say what this is about? Personally I had my doubts about some of the liberties they took with the old texts ie FFTD, but I am shocked by this sudden break. are there bigger and better plans afoot? It looks like there's a NDC at work between Joe and Mongoose so no details about the cancellation can be published but over on RPGnet Matt Sprange has just stated the following: We are very sorry that Lone Wolf ended as it had done, as Flight From the Dark was what got me into gaming in the first place when I was, what, 8? 9? However, these things happen, we understand why they had to happen and (I believe - I am party to _no_ details on this) when you see what happens in the world of Lone Wolf next, so will all of you.I therefore suspect some announcement from Joe Dever or maybe a publishing company (from whatever industry) that is picking up the IP. It does look like there are plans though and, personally, I'd like to see both the gamebooks and the RPG continue. Apart from the shockingly bad gamebook delays, I really liked what Mongoose put out, especially the RPG.

One issue I had was with the exclusivity of outlet. You generally expect to be able to pick books up from a multitude of sources, not just directly from the publisher. I've also had several problems over the years with Mongoose books. I love the content that they produce, but I had such major issues with the quality that I offered myself as a reviewer free of charge - and was turned down I took a hard decision not to subscribe to the Mongoose editions as I knew there would be quality & delivery issues so determined not to be frustrated by them. I also know Joe is not too hard to get hold of, so suspect that fans may have been venting some frustration unfairly towards him? Who knows - we would be guessing. Anyway - I am looking forward to the idea of this being picked up by a new publishing house and will be very interested in the result of this. In the meantime, we all continue our hard work here at AON to preserve the content

Hey Random Code! Fancy seeing you here.
Another refugee from the Mongoose forums, though I've been a visitor here for a long time.
Great news that Joe Dever has another publisher and that the format will remain the same style for the Collectors editions. Fingers crossed that the series continues soon. -- I fell out of favour with heaven somewhere, So I'm here for the hell of it now...

Hi TYA. Good to see you!
Yes, I've just read Joe's announcement and it is pleasing and timely! Great news that he intends to maintain the format of the books as well as my OCD wouldn't be able to cope with such an alteration halfway through the Grandmaster series! ... I hope the same will also be true for the RPG.
Personally, I think Cubicle 7 would be spot on as the RPG publisher. They're UK based and produce some really strong and distinctive IP - Doctor Who, The Laundry, and The One Ring immediately spring to mind.
Good luck to Joe in all this.

Hello all - I've been here for a long time too, though aside from a bit of volunteer work on Book 22, not really posted here much at all.
All that will change! :-)

Indeed! I suspect that will change for all of us. This is the new hangout, after all. And what a nice one it is, too. It doesn't have the pervasive smell of small, furry animals... -A

In the event that Joe reads this, I'm eager to see what the future holds for Lone Wolf. I jumped on the Mongoose Megadeal when it was offered years ago, and while that's now defunct, I'll throw money at any continuation of the collectors series reprints, and I yearn to see the original series expanded. I grew up reading the Lone Wolf books, and they were one of the earliest inspirations I had for getting into RPGs, and now years later I'm an author myself, with stuff for D&D and Pathfinder under my credits. Lone Wolf was a really big influence, and I can't wait to see what the future brings.

Strange. My Sixth Sense was going off the entire month of February, telling me that I needed to withdraw from the Original Megadeal for the lack of publishing activity in the series. Seriously.
Sigh, I hope the wait isn't too long, for the final books of the series to get published and I hope for an equitable cash refund from Mongoose in a timely manner from my request. I was about 8 years old when I first started reading the series, and now that I'm almost 40, I know that I'm definitely aging faster than Grand Master Lone Wolf !
I wonder what made Mr. Dever decide to take action at this juncture.
Ah well. Here is to a new beginning !

Mmmmm... message was up that May was the new date for lone wolf 18.
Ultimately, I believe the slow publishing of the republication broke up things between Lone Wold and Mongoose. In the longer term an author cannot have a publisher with exclusive outlet rights and very slow publication rate.
Probably this is for the best. All deals are best honored when they are new and a new publisher (hopefully one is found soon) is usually eager to show off the products of their newly acquired rights.
I was around in Mongoose Forums, is at Tower of the Sun, and sometimes although less frequently here.

I work for them on Doctor Who and the One Ring is a very well made RPG.

The game was okay but honestly I'm waiting for Books 28-32.

The game was okay but honestly I'm waiting for Books 28-32. Same here I've never been able to find any of the New Order books (except the first two) in the shops around here. Been enjoying the ones that turn up on Project Aon. A chance to return to and finish the epic adventures that began in my youthful days

Still, is it any chance that me, as a Malaysian, see a new copy of this series at our bookstores here? I really would like to have a collection.
