Now I suspect this may have just been me, but did any one else not realise who the poisoner was in fire on the water when they played this as a kid? I attacked every other guest convinced it was each of them, and I can even remember having overly convoluted reasons for each. Viveka first because she was basically a hired killer, the knights because they looked nothing like brothers and what better a disguise could you have, then the merchant, and I cant even dream of why.... The priest came last merely from a process of elimination. I don't think i even saw the tattoo until I played through the book again here twenty years later.
Was I a particularly unobservant/stupid child?

Nope, not just you. I didn't spot the tattoo until someone at Project Aon pointed it out!

It was the tattoo and the fact that Parsion is Sommlending but the text says something like "all the other travellers are unaware of the war and the Darklords attacking". How would he not know? He's come from that direction like you but I suppose you could argue he's spent weeks in Ragadorn. He must be lying.

How funny, I was very young when playing book 2 first time but I attacked for unknown reason one of the knights.

Was I a particularly unobservant/stupid child? I managed to guess Parsion right the first time I played. As I recall, I didn't notice the tattoo either until the book pointed it out, I just attacked him because he looked evil what with the hood, cloak and face in shadow. As my then 15 year old mind reasoned things, the knights were together and they wouldn't poison me, they'd just flat kill me with swords. Halvorc was too beat up and out of shape and Viveka was the closest thing to a hot girl I'd seen in any of the books so I just didn't want her to be the villain. That left Parsion. The next time I played through the books I looked at lot closer at the illustration and sure enough, there was the snake tattoo.

Well as long as its not just me.....
Thinking on it, this is perhaps not as bad as the fact I went to armoury twice playing book 6......

Well as long as its not just me..... Thinking on it, this is perhaps not as bad as the fact I went to Amory twice playing book 6...... Depending on my gold supply, I'll often start toward Amory just to beat up that Cess-selling little snot and to nuke a Cenar with the Sommerswerd. If my gold supply is low, I'll head to Soren and waste those robbers on the road. They have something like 27 GC and they're one of the only places in the books to get a Mirror, which can come in handy in Book 9.

We're talking about book 9 "130" I assume. Just walk through the door with Sommerswerd. The fight is no different with or without the mirror, or do you use the Bow. It is easy enough to get to Chiban without being arrested and losing SS.

Oh right fair enough, it's probably more fun to escape from the gatehouse and not get caught and thus only have normal Weapons anyway. Only feels like half an adventure when you avoid getting arrested, bit like Book 10 is over too quick due to the massive branch choice at the start.

Castle Death, am I missing something? Or do you Store and Restore?

I suppose that I store and restore assuming that means that I put it in safekeeping and reclaim it in a future book. My in-game logic for doing this is: why would I bring a grooming aid (the Mirror) into Castle Death?
As for using the Sommerswerd, I usually leave the S-swerd in Safekeeping for Books 9-11. I figure after all the stuff in Book 8, LW has figured out that the Darklords can use the radiant goodness in the S-swerd to track him, so he leaves it behind in Book 9 to avoid being tracked (and this explains why the guards are more likely to arrest him in Book 9. Even though there's plenty of blond Northerners around, figure very, very few of them carry flaming godswords). And in Book 10, you're supposed to be disguised as an Eruan Pathfinder. Eruan Pathfinders don't carry godswords. Meanwhile, in Book 11, you're pretty much stuck with what you had at the end of Book 10.

In Book 6 if you arrive there, you die. The key here is "arrive." When you're given the initial choice, you are also given a later choice to change direction. I start toward Amory and change direction toward Soren. That's where you meet the Druids.
