Hi this to the creator the brilliant seventh sense.
Is there way to have a custom seventh sense program where you could upload a gamebook you wanted to play that is not neccesarily lone wolf. I know there are copyright laws and everything but it could be a playing aid for all gamebook and with a few tweaks could ahve the stats changed to Skill, Luck and Stamina.
Maybe this is something that would be possible no? or for when the LW series has been competed.

As it stands, Seventh Sense needs to be adjusted manually for each LW book - so even within the series, with most things standardised, Seventh Sense only works for, say, book 5 because it's been specifically tweaked to deal with book 5's quirks. To make a program that could cope with any arbitrary adventure gamebook, you'd either need a dedicated programmer on call to add each book, or a program capable of correctly parsing the English instructions for handling a given situation, and responding appropriately. Okay, you could also take a hybrid approach by creating a robust scripting language and having someone convert books into script by hand, but the point is that you need some way of getting the computer to understand something written for humans, either by translating it for the computer or by teaching a computer to understand natural language. Whatever approach you take, you're going to need a lot of work - either in data entry and conversion, or in solving the hard problems of natural language processing. So, while I'm not Dave, I feel confident in saying that there's not going to be a universal version of Seventh Sense any time in the foreseeable future. He might be willing to do something similar with other books or other series on a case by case basis, but I wouldn't be too optimistic about that either.

I won't be doing any other series, once I finish with Lone Wolf's Grandmaster adventures (books 13-20). However, the source code is freely available for adaption for other adventures or books, if someone wants to take up the mantle, and program in, say, the New Order series (books 20-28), or modify it to do Fighting Fantasy novels... Since my coding skills are all self-taught and amateur-ish, it is probably unreadable and people would be better of starting from scratch, though... p.s. OK, I just remembered that I probably will do Grey Star's adventures, since I own 3 out of 4 of those books, and found them to be very interesting in my youth as well. And since it is only a limited run of 4 books, and relies on many very similar game mechanics as Lone Wolf, I think it will be a fairly easy job.

Why aren't you planning on doing the New Order series?

Why aren't you planning on doing the New Order series? Haha soon time for a FAQ I think Dave said he is only interested in Lone Wolf, and as you know after book 20 it is not Lone Wolf anymore... after book 20 Dave might do Grey Star. He generously give the source code so anyone up for the task can start to do the books 21-28 now

Yep, that's the reason. I have no emotional attachment to the New Order series, so have no interest in them. But Lone Wolf was such a major influence in my growing up years that I find tremendous pleasure in being able to work his adventures in my Seventh Sense program, so I can play them without cheating!
