OK folks, so UrQuan pointed out to me that the following question/answer regarding Deliverance is in the official Newsletters :
[Q:] Can you clarify what happens to the +1EP bonus when you progress from Kai Master to Grand Master? . . .
[A:] The [+1EP] bonus gained when passing through combatless sections does still apply, but only if you have played and survived the Magnakai series books. Joe Dever intended this as a 'hidden loyalty bonus' for readers who had played the earlier books, which is why it was omitted from the Grand Master rules.
So, currently, the rules in Seventh Sense are as follows:
Prodigy : +1 EP every no-combat section, with or without Deliverance (based on the statement in Magnakai disciplines section of GM books, Curing provides steady restoration of lost Endurance points)
By-the-book : +1 EP every no-combat section, same as Prodigy
Hardcore: +1 EP every no-combat section, but only if you have Deliverance (or the Curing loyalty bonus from finishing Magnakai series first.)
It seems silly to me that "steady restoration of EP" would actually just be flavor text, with no substance at all... and that Deliverance as a Discipline wouldn't restore EP other than a single 20 EP boost per book, provided your EP gets low enough.
We've got room for several interpretations, to assign to the various gameplay rules headings, but it looks like from the Newsletter that maybe my current interpretation of By-the-book is too generous and that it ought to actually be more like my Hardcore one... How does this look:
Prodigy : +1 EP every no-combat section, with or without Deliverance
By-the-book : +1 EP every no-combat section, but only if you have Deliverance (or the Curing loyalty bonus from finishing Magnakai series first.)
Hardcore : +1 EP only if you have the Curing loyalty bonus. (Deliverance doesn't restore EP, except the +20 one-shot.)
What does everyone think of how this should be applied?
