Hi there. Where shall I begin with this… Roughly 4-5 years ago, a French fanzine called Draco Venturus came to light, with a particular focus on Lone Wolf and gamebooks in general. The team behind it, Scriptarium, asked me to write an adventure, which would be featured in the first issue. Thus I wrote Le Puits des Ténèbres, first chapter of a new Lone Wolf-inspired series — Neige d'Automne. The titular character was a Kai Initiate of the New Order (and a girl), and as the series was meant as an homage to Joe Dever's own original Kai series, I tried to emulate its "look and feel" to the best of my ability. The Autumn Snow series continued as new issues of Draco Venturus came out (only three ever did), and I even kept it going for a while afterward, but after year-long delays, and in the absence of readers and feedback, my motivation finally dried up. Over a year ago, spurred on by dangling carrots, I translated the whole Pit of Darkness into English, even expanding it to the Lone Wolf-traditional 350 sections. Then it gathered dust as nothing came of it. It is now clear that nothing ever will. So today, I decided to simply dump it here. Someone may as well read the damn thing. Who knows, some of you may even enjoy it. As you've guessed, it's a plain, straightforward, traditional Kai adventure – same rules, same Disciplines, same gameplay. I even formatted it as an authentic gamebook and included a bunch of illustrations from the original books to give it that nostalgic flavour. So there you have it. Follow young Autumn Snow as she embarks, along with her master Silver Flame, on her first real mission to the Kirlundin Isles, and gets a lot more than she bargained for. SORRY – DOWNLOAD LINK DISABLEDIf anyone does play through it, I would like to know what you thought of it. There could be more, if by any chance fans like it. Oiseau

To be honest, I think it's a well-done project. There's just not enough material out there about female Kai, period- and this is something I'd love to see get given the Project Aon treatment, in linking all the numbered sections where they need to go and such.
One of the smartest things I think you did was to not provide a description of Autumn Snow- I think it adds a layer of immersion if the player is able to create their own image of what they believe the character looks like.
The game plays as well as any Lone Wolf book- I did feel a slight favoring towards a psychic-heavy build with this book, though, so I found my route a bit easier (I usually favor psychics over physical fighters- Rain is a perfect example). I also like the fact you didn't give Snow an exact age- though I think she would be about 14 to 16.
If I had one request, I would like to ask that you not shoehorn an obvious love interest into the series- if you want people to show an interest in her, that's fine, but giving an obvious interest just takes something away from it. Snow can stand on her own two feet, but I hope she finds friends to support her after the events of the first book.
I'd love to see the rest of her adventures- if they were never published, I'd say go ahead and write them. Like I said before- there isn't enough stuff about female Kai out there, and this would be a welcome addition to what's already been written.
Thanks for sharing this with us!

Well, I'm glad you liked it at least.
You might actually be the only one who gets to provide feedback, because after I put it on here, not even two days had passed before I got offered a possible new deal. So I'll have to take it down again.
So yeah… Sorry about that.

P.S. No, there is/was no plan to give Autumn Snow a boyfriend, although the third book has her meet her own (female) Banedon. ^_^

Well, that's too bad- but I wish you luck with it! I just ask that you let us know if you get an official release- I wouldn't mind dropping a few bucks for a copy! Like I said, the more female Kai stuff there is out there, the better!

Yes, remarkably odd timing. How mysterious.
Lol… With an announcement that specific, how can I deny it ? ^_^
Don't worry, it's no secret. Megara Entertainment is considering the publication of Autumn Snow, in both French and English, with Joe Dever's approval and Gary Chalk's brand new illustrations — or such is the plan as it stands. It should be quite exciting. Things seem to be moving quickly and efficiently — I knew nothing of this whole project a week ago, when I offered Volume 1 in my original post above.
From now on, since I can't freely give out the adventure, I'll use this thread for updates on the project as they come along. Wish us luck.

So you plan to have JD's approval on this? Or do you already have it? I'm just wondering what are the legal ramifications.

From what I understand, Joe Dever has already approved the project, will validate the books, and will receive his due. But it is still early on, and I myself don't know every detail yet. More news as they develop. ^_^

GREAT to see that this may be moving forward. I must apologize, between being busy and negligent in reading the PA & TOS boards, I was totally unaware of this Magnamund Gamebook. It is always a large challenge to put out a gamebook, an actual gamebook (not just an intention to do it, but the final written product). I congratulate you on your achievement and wish you best of luck in this.

I'm back on the project Aon board... My last post here was exactly 10 years ago when I announced the start of work on a Lone Wolf Online videogame... Long time!! Mikael, former CEO of Magnamund Studio and now GM of Megara for the past 7 years.

I sincerely hope that this new project will not end the same way the LW MMORPG ended back then. BTW, do you still have that video of the Drakkarim fighting a Kaï that the studios put online at that time? I think it would be great to keep some archives about that old project.

I still have all the archives for the years when I was a manager (2004-2005), before the studio closed because they wanted to drop my idea of a MMO to do a console game elsewhere with some other people. Yes.
