Here's the official Bug report thread for book 17 release.... (of course, feel free to report bugs from earlier books than book 17, just make sure you're running the latest version of the software.)
Thanks for the help, everyone!

not a playing bug, but on my Windows 10 64-bit machine Lone Wolf.exe closed unless I started with "Run as Administrator" looks like it needs permission to write this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Seventh Sense\settings.txt
It also doesn't find my old profiles.... will look more into what that could be.

Ok it seems on mine it ignores my profile and when I download the books on a new profile it doesn't goes to my c:\users yada yada but directly to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Seventh Sense\data\books\book1 That is why I must run as Administrator since a normal user isn't allowed to write to c:\program files etc... Wonder if it is just me or Windows 10 but previous version (16.1) worked fine.

Oops, I included the "Standalone" EXE in the "Updater" package for a normal install. I am uploading a new package right now, that will fix this. Ugh - I hate it when I do something dumb like that! Thanks for the quick feedback, John!
EDIT: OK, the new file has been uploaded - Please test this and let me know if it works (just install it as usual, and it should replace the old EXE file, and find all your profiles, etc.) - since only 7 people downloaded the bad one before we caught it and replaced it, I'm not going to increase the version number.

Hi Dave. Fantastic job! Now only three books remain! Now to the point of this thread (only minor errors, the book itself is superb, as always) section 1: if you possess Platinum Amulet, both sections 166 and 282 are available (only 166 should be available). If you do not possess it, only section 282 is available (which is correct). section 346: If you possess Sommerswerd but are not wielding it, it should be automatically equipped here. "You grasp the hilt of the sun-sword..." section 110: the same about automatically equipping the Sommerswerd. "You tug the Sommerswerd..." By the way, I played the book in prodigy mode, and "the hardest LW book" was (not surprisingly) easy. You know, CS of 70... I'm looking forward to hardcore mode...

CS 70? Yikes! I imagine a "Fresh start" on book 17, even in Prodigy mode, would be quite a lot harder. And thanks for the bugs/tips report. I'll get those fixed right away! ---------- John, I'm glad it's working for you. I'll let you be the one to start the "Book 18 Progress" thread...

Another nitpick: the info text about Platinum Amulet is the same as in Book 16, i.e. "This amulet was given to you by Gwynian to protect from some of the dangers of the Maakengorge."
You could make new infotext for "Ixia" Platinum Amulet, or make all texts of all Platinum Amulets - there will be another one in book 19 (from Banedon), and in book 20 (from Rimoah) - the same, basically with something about protecting against evil.

Thanks for pointing that out! I like the second idea - generalize the tooltip/info text so it can apply equally in any of the books. When I'm first going through a book (like book 16), an item's first appearance is usually going to get something more specific. Only when it shows up again later, in a different context, does it need to be less specific.

You shouldn't be able to use the Sommerswerd in 89, 239, 130, 125. Fixed. You should only be able to use the Sommerswerd in 214. Works correctly in the parallel section 77, with the Power Spike. FixedShould be a red button: 86, like the parallel section 268. Fixed
Could also make the Onyx Key undroppable since it's assumed you have it in 103. FixedShould be a red button: 282. Fixed Could also make the Platinum Amulet undroppable since it's assumed you have it. FixedCould make the Korlinium Scabbard in 194 undroppable since it's assumed you have it. FixedShould probably be a red button: 220. FixedIf you click the red button to equip the Power Spike, and then equip something else in the middle of combat, you get stuck because of the "can only equip one item per round" rule. Edit: Hmm, I just realized that this whole mechanic is redundant in a way, since there is no reason to switch weapons more than once per round anyway (or more than once per combat, even).
I'm guessing it's only used for Hardcore to not be able to equip a Shield + a weapon in the same round? In that case it might be a cleaner to remove that equipping restriction altogether, and on Hardcore there could be a flat CS penalty for switching weapons instead (could also be spread over more than one round potentially). Also, since there is no Shield to equip in Grandmaster anyway it would be more consistent overall.
Or more simply: keep the re-equipping restriction but otherwise allow for switching weapons freely. You can use the Deliverance mega heal even after the Curing mega heal is used. FixedBecause the The EP Advancement bonus in Grandmaster is not automatically applied, but rather when you pick new Disciplines, it causes you to stop gaining EP when you run out of new Disciplines to pick on Hardcore, starting from book 16. Fixed After you die, the tool tip when hovering on the Resume Campaign button still says "You have NOT died..." until you actually restart. FixedIn sections where you lose items in specific Backpack spaces, and the arrows to move stuff are greyed out, you can still drop items to manipulate the Backpack. Should really be okay to leave it like that though, unless there is an easy fix. Fixed That old 0 Combat Skill bug. Leave itBook 1: Infinite Swords in 15. Leave it
Book 1: The Silver Key in 124 should be a Backpack Item. Fixed
Book 1: The Golden Key in 161 should be a Backpack Item. FixedBook 1: Evading combat in 191 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 1: Evading combat in 220 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 2: Should be a red button: 263. FixedBook 3: Should probably be a red button: 308, like similar items. FixedBook 4: You don't need to have a torch to click the red button (and get a burning torch) in 79. FixedBook 4: Wrong battle log title for the Crypt Guards in 198. Fixed
Book 4: Change 241 according to newest Project Aon release. FixedBook 4: You get stuck in 272 if you have no Weapons. There is no popup when clicking the button, and it stays red. FixedBook 4: Should be a green button: 322. FixedBook 5: Missing "Open Section" and "Open Action Chart Page" in 14. Fixed
Book 5: Missing "Inventory Success" checks in 388. FixedBook 7: Evading combat in 19 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 7: Evading combat in 45 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 7: Evading combat in 249 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 7: If you want to add more viable items in 261: Bottle of Holy Water (book 4), Canteen of Water (book 5). Fixed (added archetypes as appropriate)Book 8: Evading combat in 38 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 8: Evading combat in 110 immediately gets out of the fight. Fixed
Book 8: Evading combat in 205 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 9: You get stuck in 24 if you have no weapons. There is no popup when clicking the button, and it stays red. FixedBook 9: If you have only one dose of the "Vial of Sabito Pills" in 25 then clicking the button adds another Vial of Sabito Pills to your Backpack instead of removing one. The unidentified "Vial of Blue Pills" (always one dose) works fine. Impossible to actually use up a dose of Sabito before this so let's leave it be.Book 9: Missing "Open Section" and "Open Action Chart Page" effects in 177. FixedBook 9: You get stuck in 261 if you have no money, Special Items, Backpack Items or Weapons. All buttons stay grey. Leave itBook 10: You get stuck in 11 if you have no weapon equipped. There is no popup when clicking the button, and it stays red. Let's leave this be for now. Would be interesting to have a GOT_KILLED_MENU here (and in similar sections) if you don't have a weapon equipped.Book 10: Evading combat in 113 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 10: You get stuck in 210 if you have no weapon equipped. There is no popup when clicking the button, and it stays red. There should be a check for having a weapon equipped in 333: for turning here and for turning to 128 (like there is from here). FixedBook 11: If you are not wielding a weapon, the "draw" button in 204 stays grey. FixedBook 11: Could make the Obsidian Seal in 210 undroppable since it's assumed you have it in 87. FixedBook 11: You get stuck in 338 if you have no Special Items. There is no popup when clicking the button, and it stays red. Leave itBook 11: No "draw" button in 341. FixedBook 12: No arrow deducted in 5. FixedBook 12: Evading combat in 35 immediately gets out of the fight. FixedBook 12: No "draw" button in 57. FixedBook 12: Could make the Crystal Explosive in 166 undroppable since it's assumed you have it (I know there is a check for it at the end of the book but several other sections reference it also). FixedBook 12: Could make the Golden Amulet in 221 undroppable since it's assumed you have it. FixedBook 12: Could make the Green Mask in 235 undroppable since it's assumed you have it. FixedBook 12: Should be able to evade in 247 after 2 rounds (3 rounds currently). FixedBook 12: Could make the Korlinium Scabbard in 282 undroppable since it's assumed you have it. FixedBook 13: There could be a check for having a weapon in 103: for turning to 81, and a check in 81 for having a weapon wielded for clicking the pick button. Leave itBook 13: Both buttons are green even if you have a bow and two arrows: 210. FixedBook 15: You get stuck in 76 if you roll too high with the Silver Bow bonus. All buttons stay grey. Fixed
Book 15: Should check for both Green Keys: 109 and 212. FixedBook 15: Should be green buttons: 121 and 297. Leave itBook 15: Should be a green button: 236 FixedBook 15: There could be a check for having a weapon in 346, for turning to 238. FixedBook 16: You get stuck in 21 if you have no money or Backpack Items. All buttons stay grey. Leave itBook 16: Should make the button for the Platinum Amulet in 45 red. FixedBook 16: Should make the button for the Black Amulet in 84 red. FixedBook 16: Could make the Deathstaff undroppable since it's assumed you have it. FixedBook 16: You actually never get the Deathstaff in 92, or anywhere by that route. FixedBook 16: Should restrict weapon switching in 57, 92, 94, 157 (so you can't drop the Helshezag). Fixed
Book 16: You get stuck in 131 if you have no weapons. There is no popup when clicking the button, and it stays red. Let's leave this be for now. Would be interesting to have a GOT_KILLED_MENU here (and in similar sections) if you don't have a weapon equipped.Book 16: Should be a red button: 36, like the similar sections 103, 142 and 229. Fixed
Okay, this is a balance-related issue I have known about for a while, but it is especially apparent in Book 17. Removed the extra GM Advancement bonus for now --->
Here are the total stat bonuses for Grandmaster characters for By-The-Book:
...and Hardcore:
Because of the extra Grandmaster Advancement bonus (+4 CS) and the higher total "Lore-circle" bonus (+2 CS) on Hardcore, they come out to be exactly the same. You will also have more EP on Hardcore, for the aforementioned reasons.
Then...
In the critical section 209 in book 12, you want to try your best to fail that roll. Having skills is bad. Conveniently on Hardcore, you only have five, and you have an 80% chance to fail it. On By-The-Book however, it's 40%.
That's is a pretty big swing of 1.2 CS on average, again in Hardcore's favour.
And then finally, the "Dark Champion" bonus. This is relevant for mandatory combats with at least Warlord Magnaarn, Demonlord Tagazin, Tagazin again, and Deathlord Ixiataaga. The Dark Champion bonus (+4 CS) further pushes Hardcore's edge on By-The-Book to a hefty 5.2 CS.
And on top of all that, on By-The-Book your stats are obviously "tied" to the Sommerswerd, where again in book 17 this discrepancy becomes apparent. In the mandatory 3 Kajarda fight, Hardcore is now a whopping 9.2 CS ahead!
So my point is that in Grandmaster Hardcore is, by some margin, easier than By-The-Book.
One straightforward fix would be to just remove the Dark Champion mechanic, it's irrelevant for Kai through Magnakai anyway (there are no mandatory combats with the Dark Champion flag there). However, this would still only leave By-The-Book on par or slightly behind Hardcore in Grandmaster.
Removing the extra Grandmaster Advancement bonus would be okay too, but that would also cause a few bottlenecks with some of the tougher mandatory combats in Grandmaster, unless more of those combats were then compensated with the Dark Champion flag instead.
Overall, it depends on what sort of stats you want Grandmaster to be doable with on Hardcore. I'll provide more feedback as needed.

Oh, I hate to bring up this can of worms again (from close to two years ago), but... But we are of the opinion that such changes/clarifications were made with Joe Dever's input. From a gameplay perspective for an implementation such as Seventh Sense, I guess it means, "You cannot drink any healing potion immediately before a combat (i.e. in the same section in which a combat occurs)." I can see why such a rule is logical, though I would rather play the gamebooks for fun than as a masochistic way to inflict pain upon myself. Thanks for the clarification on Joe's input - I was under the impression that some nutty editor was just trying to "clarify" things, by making spurious additions. As to Seventh Sense, unless you are actually going to update the books with the phrase you gave above ("..cannot drink *any* healing potion..."), I will probably just leave it as a Laumspur-only restriction (since that is the actual wording, and the only healing item you can regularly obtain from the equipment section), and give some variation in gameplay rules interp for the Hardcore (not *any* potions), By-the-book (not Laumspur), and Prodigy (can use any healing items)... One last related question : what about Laumwort? obviously related to Laumspur... would that fall under the same restriction? Or is -wort/-spur distinction mostly arbitrary? ...from the Error Reports thread back then. Anyway, back then I linked to this section, where supposedly there is a distinction made between Laumspur and Laumwort/Oede ("after" vs. "before or after"), but now I'm not so sure. In book 5 the description for Oede is actually the same as for Laumspur: 2, and there are obviously a bunch of random items with healing effects throughout the books, and none of them have this distinction either, in fact the majority of them have no useful description at all, so logically the only way they could be treated is the same as Laumspur. The only exceptions that I found were the Haina flower in book 11 and these "Potions of Laumspur": 182 and 206, in book 19. So my vote would be to have the same restriction for all healing items, to have at least some form of consistency.

In book 9 I was given the option of using Huntmastery as I approached the Anarian Rangers on the road to Tahou, even though I didn't have it.

I would guess you have a Spyglass, haven't you? The Spyglass can magnify your vision and works the same as Huntmastery-improved vision. Try to hover the cursor on the green button of "if you possess Huntmastery" section, I bet there will be an info about this.
