Thought of a house rule that would make the selection of disciplines more interesting and perhaps more realistic.
Each Kai discipline has a Magnakai discipline that is the "advanced" version of it, and then a Grand Master discipline that is again further advancement of essentially that same skill.
So my rule is based on the idea that Lone Wolf has certain tendencies/capabilities that are more acute than others, and that this doesn't change over the course of his lifetime.
When you go to choose your three Magnakai disciplines at the beginning of book 6, you can only choose from amongst the advanced versions of the five Kai disciplines you chose at the beginning of book 1. Then in book 7, you must choose one of the two Magnakai discipilnes not chosen in book 6, and then in book 8, you automatically get the fifth discipline not yet selected. Thereafter through book 12, you receive your new disciplines in the same order as you chose their Kai equivalents in books 2-5.
Same thing for the Grand Master series: your initial four Grand Master disciplines must be the same as the four lesser versions as you had at the beginning of book 7, and then from books 14-18 you add them in the same order as you did in books 8-12. In book 19 you would get the remaining advanced discipline whose lesser equivalent you didn't initially choose in book 5 (and therefore also the lone discipline you didn't get in book 12, either), and then finally only in book 20 do you get to choose either Kai Alchemy or Magi Magic.
