What is it with "YOU can prevent forest fires?" Is it some US reference I'm unaware of? It occurs in the Achaean skill lists for the skill Dousing too! NS.

"Only you can prevent forest fires" (now changed to "only you can prevent wildfires") is a slogan from the Smokey Bear campaign to get impressionable young kids to be careful around fire, especially campfires. Smokey Bear, sometimes (erronously) referred to as Smokey the Bear, is the mascot, and the one that says the line. www.smokeybear.com/Various cultural references can be really different and weird. Like the Cadbury Bunny is totally different in American commercials.

The world's most famous MUD and always in the top two most popular. Tell me your character and I'll say hi next time I'm on. (Achaea is where I saw Delehyla, as I mentioned previously.)
NS.

Well, I haven't even finished the preliminary quests yet, and who knows when I'll get time to play, but I'm a female Siren named Zipp.

I'm having a hard enough time getting my homework and household duties done as it is! ~Relenoir, who should be paying bills right now.

Ah but you see, I have gameritis, which means that I have to play anything that comes my way. I also must exclaim wildly over it: "Wow! That's a cool idea! Oh wow! They pulled this off nicely!" And the occasional: "Wow... this sucks..." Even now, my hands shake in their urge to grip the ever familiar controller...

I know the feeling. I have to ration my Morrowind "real" life and computer "fake" life, just so I can waste time living, working, eating, paying bills... NS.

Nah, he gave that to Altan in exchange for a horse. -GB No way--he stole the horse! No one takes Lone Wolf's Ticket to Port Bax. That's like trading a ticket to Paradise.

Even if Maghana doesn't go up to Lone Wolf and demand the ring (assuming it's the right one), I do think Lone Wolf would do the honorable thing and hold up his end of the bargain. You mean like the way he gave the Magic Spear to Lord-Lieutenant Rhygar? Something tells me Lone Wolf conveniently forgets his promises as soon as the book is done, and just pockets the special items.

I'm of the opinion that the Psychic Ghoul IS Aiebek, given the description Maghana gives Lone Wolf about his son (plus the fact that he - Maghana - uses a mind gem, similar but more powerful than the Psychic Ring). I've read all the speculation given here, but has there been any material written (whether officially or fan-based) about the issue of the Psychic Ring, Aiebek, Maghana and the Psychic Ghoul (or better, how the ghouls even came to be in the first place... the Crocaryx had a hand perhaps?)?
The issue of taking the Psychic Ring with you all the way to Book 12 notwithstanding, I find this a nice little side-story in the LW world worth exploring a little more in detail. Like, if Lone Wolf met Maghana, it would make more sense that he would have given the ring to him for his help in getting access to the Zaaryx (finding the Lorestone was of greater concern to LW than a 'bauble' like the Psychic Ring). Of course, if he hadn't, then it would make sense how LW would've taken it with him all the way to Book 12.
It's also been awhile since I've read the Grandmaster series, but I believe one of two rings can be brought into the aforementioned series. So the next question would be: what is the background story for these items exactly? And which is better? The Grey Crystal Ring from Book 8 or the Psychic Ring from Book 9?

Section 77 of the book has some sort of answer to the last question: I also believe that the Psychic Ghoul is Aiebek. There's nothing conclusive in the book of course, but I think that the hints would not be there if this was not the case. It's also been awhile since I've read the Grandmaster series, but I believe one of two rings can be brought into the aforementioned series. Actually none of the rings may be brough into the Grandmaster series. The initial list in Book 13 is: - Crystal Star Pendant
- Sommerswerd
- Silver Helm
- Dagger of Vashna
- Silver Bracers
- Jewelled Mace
- Silver Bow of Duadon
- Helshezag
- Kagonite Chainmail
- Korlinium Scabbard

Actually none of the rings may be brought into the Grandmaster series. Thanks for the correction. Gave away my collection of books 1-20 to a good friend as a parting gift back in '97-'98, so I'm pretty hazy about the details nowadays. Still that last question remains... which is better anyhow? The Grey Crystal Ring (with no background story of it at all) or the Psychic Ring?

I vote for the Psychic Ring. It's cooler of the Grey Crystal ring and we can use it against Kimah, having a nice Combat Skill bonus We can use the two rings in another combat: in book n.11 against those spectral knights in the Nevertheness (I don't remember their name) for increasing our Combat Skill in a mental combat. Psychic Ring: 2 uses Grey Crystal Ring: 1 use (is there any other tell me if I'm wrong) Psychic Ring wins !!!

There is actually two more uses for these rings, though most players will have abilities or items, or make (better) choices, that lead them to other parts through the books. The Psychic Ring can be used in battle with the Zadragon in Book 9, and both rings can help you if Taktaal makes a psychic attack on you in Book 12.
