@ Ronan: Thanks, Ronan - as Outspaced already said: glad to be of some help! Yeah, he and I are becoming a regular double-act! And just you wait until Relenoir joins us (as soon as his time permits) - that'll be an unholy trio! ;D
Writing is very much an on-the-job learning curve [...] Keep it up.
Well said, esteemed gremlin. <= What he said!
Oh, and on a lighter note: why does everyone mis-spell my name?
Mis-spell? Mis-spell?! You dare accuse me, Shasarak the Wytch-King, Master of the Dark Arts, the One Who Summoned Agarash with But a Word (still working on the Cthulhu Plush Slippers of Doom, though), of a mis-spell!?! The pure nerve!!! ... Well, okay, I don't really use spells, but still! ;D The Wytch-King

I finally got around to reading it this morning; looks pretty solid from what I've read. Just a few minor things:
1) In several places, you've replaced "lose" with "loose" 2) You included Al*ss, yech. 3) Is Willpower like in GS, where it can go above the original total? As far as I can tell, this is never explained. 4) Is the Magi Cloak a Special Item? 5) Any hints as to which items will be valuable in the second book? 6) It says this is your second LW-themed work. If you haven't said already, what was the first? 7) No gems worth thousands of Crowns that you can't sell or do anything consequential with? You sure this is a LW-themed book? 8) Is it the Oriental Broadsword or the Oriental Battlesword?
Other than these quibbles and questions, props for a job well done.

Okay I know about the lose/loose errors and I have it fixed in the second book. Yes WILLPOWER is the same as in Grey Star. The Magi Cloak is considered a Special Item but does NOT count against your limit of 12. Items of value...hmm...there is a certain horn that you can buy that is of great value. As is a certain sash that you wear on your arm. No more hints. The first LW fan-fic I wrote was called the Seventh Warrior and was about this group of 13 warriors (Traye) who were trained by Zagarna before the fall of Holmgard to match the Kai in battle. You played a Sommlending from Ragadorn named Ronan Tryledon. lol, I know. Anyways you end up escaping the cult after hearing your master summon Naar. As you escape the underground lair one of the other Traye confronts you and you slay him. Then you make a desperate dash for the southern border. However the Traye are out for blood and you eventually stop running and return to defeat your old master. It didn't flow well with the Lone Wolf series but was fairly interesting. No useless Gems yet. However alot of the items you can get are very useless. And others are very valuable. It is supposed to be a Battlesword. Sorry for the mixup.Alyss? I don't remember her name anywhere in there. ;DOh and just for shits and giggles (you guys are going to love this one). In the second book you can get into a fight with Q******! I'm sure that you guys are going to love this one. She is tough but there is a chance for you to put her in her place. *Waits for standing applause*

Oh and plan on the second book "The Cordon of Holmgard" coming out sometime in late June or early July. The reason it is going so fast is because it was already about half done when I finished 'The Dark before the Dawn'. I have the layout for the 3rd and 4th done but haven't started them.

The Side Pouch, Embroidered Pouch, The Gold Sash of Talestria, and your Magi Cloak do not count against your 12 Special Items limit.
Also the discipline Survivalist has been changed to Survivalism.
Another note to Cadak: The Oriental Battlesword is a 2-handed weapon so you cannot use its bonuses and the bonus from the Blue-Steel Sword at the same time.

Finally got a chance to go through it once last night. Overall, not bad, not bad at all. Pros:
- Creative system, lends well to customization (especially the paths framework).
- A lot of adventure packed in 250 sections (of course, I've been reading LW for so long, anything less than 350 seems short ).
- There are a lot of "new" items to satisfy the munchkin in all of us; the Oriental Battlesword is definitely an inspired creation.
Cons:
- Guard Captain D'Val commanding a ship? I found it a little jarring, though newbies probably wouldn't.
- Is it just me, or are some of the NPCs a little more talkative than necessary?
- Almost too many items compared to the regular series; at this rate, you can become a walking arsenal if you're not careful. Still, it does give you an incentive to choose carefully.
I'd give it 7/10 overall, and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Alright Reginald...thanks for the input! ;D Okay, let's see. It was very hard for me to incorperate D'Val because (I think) the LW series doesn't do him justice. His character isn't very well developed.
I know that it is short with only 250 sections. The second one is 350. Which I am very proud of. It is about halfway done (something like that). There are DEFINATELY more weapons, items, etc. However, the enemies are typicaly harder then in LW1 and (I believe) the is a greater chance for an 'instant death'. The second book provides plenty of dangers and is alot harder than the first. In fact if you make it through the first time without dying at least once I will be surprised. It isn't has hard as GS1, I promise. Anyways, thanks again for the input. Expect the second installment in July (I think).

Oh jeeze, I can't believe I didn't realize this when I saw Cadak post his character, please READ THIS! With the Virtues. Each virtue starts at level 1. This means you ALREADY have 10 points assigned to each virtue. I am so sorry that I forgot to mention this. I had it in my mind, I guess I just forgot to incorporate the right way. Maybe I just didn't word it properly in the book. Ah well. Ronan
