Does anyone know if you get an extra weaponskill weapon per book or what your backpack or special items limit are?
EDIT And in book 1, section 32, how many items are you allowed to take and do they count as backpack or special items?
EDIT2 Ah section 32 actually says 'Your backpack can hold up to eight items'. And I presume SI stands for special item. But why doesn't the death mask count as an SI?
I like the coins-in-backpack rule. I may use it as a house rule in LW. But if I put 10 coins in my backpack, would that take up a space I wonder?

Unfortunately, I can't "officially" answer these questions. I didn't write them. ^_^
I play using the LW rules, meaning 8 items in Backpack, 12 Special Items, and everything counts as either a Backpack stuffer, a Special Item, or a Weapon (when an object's nature is not specified, I get to choose, keeping logic in mind). I consider Weaponskill equivalent to the Kaï version : one preferred weapon for the first 5 chapters (then it becomes somewhat irrelevant). When many items are offered with no stated restrictions, I take everything I want/can. And a coin pouch in the Backpack counts as one item, whether it's full or not.
Precise rules in the Dark One series become fuzzy around the final chapters, as you acquire new skills and items in quick succession. However, I found the whole thing to be quite well made, even if some English sentences in there are bizarre. ^_^

Uh...in book 2, section 46, it says to turn to 29 if you have tracking, but 29 plainly isn't the right section. Anyone know what is?

There is no right section. I found this mistake while translating the chapter. The French version simply erases the Tracking option and claims that it's useless, given two identical passageways, so you just have to rely on luck. ^_^
