I'd have to recommend Tower of the Sun, as well--it's a great community for Lone Wolf enthusiasts, and a lot of really cool and welcoming people post there. I’ve never found a friendlier forum, to be honest; I love Project Aon, and it’s very open and accepting, but people on TotS go out of their way to be nice and get you to contribute. It’s an entirely different bird than PA, as well, so being a part of both doesn’t make you feel as though you’re constantly repeating yourself. Different people (for the most part, though there’s a lot of crossover), different conversations, different environment. I don’t even post there anymore, and I’m talking them up, so what does that tell you?

Had gender redeployment surgery, Zipp? Could this forum be friendlier? I dunno, I've had some bad experiences with forums in the past and this is the friendliest place I've ever posted (mailing lists aside). There are no real rules beyond 'respect other people, and try to keep vaguely on topic'. That said, Zipp's right in that it's also more the concept of PA I'm interested in than, for example, coming up with future timelines for Magnamund. Working as part of this project has forced me to do a lot of research, and learn how to use software in ways I'd never have touched on else. My spelling, punctuation, and grammar have also all improved (please forgive any typos; my keyboard hates me ). A lot of things on this forum have contributed to us going back over previously published books and finding mistakes/issues. (Book 13 is positively riddled with problems, but it was out first attempt at a GM book.) Also, threads such as the Illustrator Detectives have paid off in full, exponentially increasing the number of pairs of eyes scouring the internet for these missing artists. We started off just over a year ago with about 10 or 11 artists, we're now down to two, and only one of those is truly important to the project. This forum has been a great help to the project so far, and I don't see that changing. I might go over and have a brief look at TotS, but unless it's full of people offering to scan in the Combat Heroes/New Order books . . .

Just remember to call yourself "Outspaced" with a capital O My pet hate is people being lazy when creating avatar names and not using an initial capital!! *g* NS.

Nope, the lack of capitalisation is intentional!

Could PA be friendlier? Probably. Does it need to be? Not at all. TotS is ingratiatingly, shockingly friendly, going above and beyond the call to make people feel welcome and valued. That's not just unusual in a forum, it's downright unheard of, and while it's a plus for them, I don't think that kind of attention is needed here. This is more a "voluntary contribution" forum, whereas TotS has the goal of becoming an extremely tightly-knit community. It works against them in some cases, but for the most part, it's just different. I post here and not there--take that for what you will.

Nope, I'm not over on TotS. I didn't like the fact that you had to join to post (which this forum is too, after a pr0n-spamming attempt last year--*sigh*) and to access the files section, which seems a bit draconian to me. Also, to my mind, post quotas (i.e. unless you post, your login gets deleted after 30 days), and rewards for high posting (you can visit the "special areas!") are counter-productive to creating a thriving forum with enough on-topicness to allow for some off-topicness while maintaining a friendly atmosphere. Additionaly, since I spend hours every week on PA-related stuff, I don't really see the need to go to another LW-based forum; this is all I need. I was reading this post again today, outspaced, and while I still respect your decision about Tower of the Sun, I thought I should explain some of these things for members who don't know more about that community. Nope, I'm not over on TotS. I didn't like the fact that you had to join to post (which this forum is too, after a pr0n-spamming attempt last year--*sigh*) and to access the files section, which seems a bit draconian to me. As you mentioned, Project Aon had some problems with guest posting. The same thing has happened at Tower of the Sun. As for the download restriction, it is an issue with bandwith and other technical things. We would personally love to leave it open to everyone, but it is no longer an option. Plus it takes like five minutes to sign up, so that's not a big deal. This post quota you speak of, I checked it out with the moderators at Tower of the Sun, and it is a false claim. Your account remains, regardless of posts, until the user purges, which happen when we get way too many people who never post. Then a message is sent out to everyone, requesting a single post before the purge, at which point your account isn't cleared. Also, the forum is very productive, and a lot of care is made to see that it remains so. This requires a bit more on topic conversation than elsewhere, but if you take a glance through the forums, you'll see it's not an overly strict holding. In any case, I wanted to make sure the facts were put into order.

Zipp, as I see that you are here at the moment, I thought I would complement you on your choice of avatar, in a plutonic, happily married with children kind of way (Me). So consider yourself complimented, at least it's not a weird yellow thing, eh?

I never got a message before my original account there was deleted, so I'm not sure if this is necessarily a true blanket statement. So consider yourself complimented, at least it's not a weird yellow thing, eh? His name is the Cheat, and he is a fitting avatar for the Cheatingest Cheater in Magnamund.

Zipp, as I see that you are here at the moment, I thought I would complement you on your choice of avatar, in a plutonic, happily married with children kind of way (Me). Thank you Runeheart. The avatar in question is from FFX (this specific one is from FFX-2) and depicts High Summoner Yuna. Dusk Fox, let me clarify. What I meant by message was that it is posted in the Announcements when the next user purge will take place. People who are no longer checking the forum will not see the message, and probably (as they no longer check the forums) will not care if their account is deleted for them. Those who do check are often motivated to make some post, but let me make it clear that the purge is not targetting people who don't post a lot. It's targetting people who don't post at all. If you seriously didn't want to post, but wanted to remain a member anyways, there are a number of people you could contact who would arrange that for you. Also, care is taken to find and notify members who have been very active in the past and have been absent for unknown reasons. It's not a careless napalming of the member's list, but rather a careful weeding which inspires new growth.

I (as North Star) was purged twice because I took the trouble to sign up and didn't take the trouble to write just ne post saying 'hi'. Then I re-registered again and look where I am (as Tyrenis) am now! Leader of the Lyrian Sages, a limited Moderator, responsible for Zipp's being there... If you don't want to join that's up to you, Outs, but the purges are only once every three months and just one post guarantees your account's survival. Tyrenis.

Update on the third book: there isn't much of a one. The majority of my time is spent running my Lone Wolf campaign. I try to work on it for an hour or so once a week but that doesn't get me very far. Yes I know that the second installment came out a year ago (a little more in fact). The thing is that to write up 350 sections takes a long time. The first book took me about 6 months and the second one even longer. It simply cannot be thrown all together in a short time period. In a sense it is even harder than writing a novel. Making everything fit the way you want to and having the entire story drafted, prepared, tabled before you even begin. It is very complicated. So...I really don't know what to say. It will take a while but due to the great popularity that they have had I want to continue working on them. Rome wasn't built in a day...

Yep, the downloads section of Tower of the Sun is the easiest way to receive them. If you simply aren't registered at Tower of the Sun and have no desire to... I will make exceptions and email directly.
Email me at bry_board_freak@yahoo.com with the subject being: Saga of Lone Wolf. In the body of the email tell me which book (or both) you want and I'll email them to you. If you leave no specified email address I will use the infamous reply button. Keep in mind both these books take up space and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to read.
Oh, and as an afterthought: I apologize about not responding. My time has...become stressed as of late.

Gosh, I can't believe that I didn't think to have a look at the TotS about this 0_o Thanks, it was so obvious it didn't came to my mind, as it seems. And thanks for proposing to send them to me, Ronan, but that's all right, I'm also registered at the TotS, so I'll be able to get them the usual way
