Hi there!
We have been making a MUD, working on it for many years, and it was devoted to the Wheel of Time setting. I personally do not like this, so I have been hoping for a long time that we could switch to something else. My friend, who does the programming and has written our new code base from scratch all by himself in .NET C# of all things! We're not familiar with the Lone Wolf setting, but we read a lot of RPG books and things for ideas, and this setting is really incredible. I found out about this site because someone said you can download these game books here, which is another new thing for me, and I'm hoping to see more information.
Right now, I am especially interested in moving in this direction based on what I have learned so far from reading the Lone Wolf Roleplaying Game book. Reading things here also makes me hopeful, since it seems if we wanted to do this, we could hopefully try a legal approach unlike other settings, by trying to get word to the owner of the franchise to ask permission.
If we could do this, it would be ultra-realistic. We don't do things like "hit points" and getting cut 100 times and surviving. You can catch frostbite. You can't go around murdering people. Untended wounds get infected. All kinds of things. We are also hoping to implement an exceptionally advanced NPC system, involving Personality types, Castes (such as MiddleClass, Farmer, Noble, which affect their attitudes and what NPCs they will talk to), an NPC conversation menu system where you have choices of how to talk to NPCs and ask about things.
This is a tremendous undertaking even if we decide to invent our own setting, especially with how much realism we have already introduced, and intend to introduce over time. Most of what is in place currently is Wheel of Time oriented. I still can't convince my friend to drop that, he thinks we have put too much into it.
Since we're neither of us knowing about the Lone Wolf things, I'm hoping we can read (or play?! hehe, it's a neat idea) these books together and learn more. It would also be wonderful if anyone would be interested to come by, and help me sell him on this idea.
The other RPG that interested me in setting was called "Earthdawn", but the content on "Lone Wolf" has wowed me even more than that. It is intense and the amount of detail rivals JRR Tolkien stuff!!
I hope I am allowed to post this here. Nobody involved with our text online game gets any money or profit at all, so I hope the moderators won't consider this advertising. We would look eagerly forward to any knowledgeable person about the setting, to come visit us, and if there was any way to request permission from the owner of Lone Wolf for what would be dedicated, true to his creation in every way (even details we might not agree with!), and completely free and open without any profit at all.
I want to learn more and I think he does to, before we make a decision. Plus, we have not spoken to any of our other staff, builders, and so on about a switch. We are just interested in this setting, and if we learn enough and are convinced, this is a possibility. We are especially drawn to it and I am posting here because of this very post, which said there is no MUD for it.
One thing that attracts us is picking an established setting with a fan base and lots of content, but that has few or no MUDs already on it.

Sadly I don't do programming so I can't talk about that.
By the way there is nothing stock in our MUD either so no problems with codebase from estalished MUDs, no old D&D rules or any of that, it's all written from scratch, as far as I know there is no other MUD in C# .NET!
ps this message board made my name lowercase! I'm not sure how that happened, I typed it with a capital E.
[I'm not sure what the board might have done, but there is a difference between login name and display name, so you can have a capital E without re-registering ...like this! / Your friendly admin]
