"The man hesitates and then answers. 'Why, the Rusty Anchor Inn, of course.'" Of course! ;D
So, not even one out of three for the Helghast! lol
Thanx, adunaphel! - I missed that bit.
Ed.: Interestingly that means, LW indeed will never know. He won't get to Ikaya after he lost the seal in FotW, will he?

The more I think about it, the more willing I am to agree that huge amounts of damage could injure a Helghast. I believe fire could potentially do this damage, but I still think a Helghast ignores enough of said damage to be able to fight while on fire.

Sorry for butting in in the middle of the conversation, and for randomly appearing out of nowhere for no readily apparent reason (I was away most of december, and before then I was quite busy with various stagey type things).
I was wondering, did Zip finish the Helghast fight? and if so, could I please have a copy, because the Gourgaz was great!

I was away most of december, and before then I was quite busy with various stagey type things. Were you doing panto? What would the Darklords make of that? To answer your question, Zipp's Helghast fight is available to download - as is the Gourgaz one - from a website belonging to someone going by the unlikely moniker of "outspaced". They're in PDF format. Linky: homepage.ntlworld.com/outspaced/

As Lone Wolf said to Banedon at their first meeting, "It's behind you!"

Hiya, Dark! Yes, it's as Doomy has said. The Helghast file is in the hands of Outspaced. The link can also be found on the first post of this topic. Let me know what you think.

Okay, I'll go and inspect it, even if it does mean plumbing the realms of outspaced's site.
As to the stagey things, "oh no it wasn't" panto. It was actually Gilbert and Sullivan auditions.
"But stil in magics powerful, and casting spells both cruel and bad, I am the very model of the darkest lord of Helgedad!"
Why couldn't the darklords use more Sillables! Daaaaaam them!

Sorry, I haven't read the entire thread and this is just a quick reply - so this point may have already been made - but from a role-playing perspective you could posit that Helghasts have a limited pool of "Magic" points, or "Willpower" points, or "Naar's Essence" points, which allow it to remain animated. These points are expended whenever the Helghast enters into heated combat or uses magic, or does anything else that requires great exertion (but perhaps minor combats wouldn't use any magic points). That would explain why Helghasts do not rush into battle against overwhelming odds, relying on their immunity to weapons to save them: their power would be depleted by the constant combat. A Helghast which utterly exhausts its power would wither and vanish, or perhaps fall into a dormant state in which it resembles an emaciated, lifeless corpse for a period of time (say, until the next new moon), when it re-animates.
You could use this feature in your book to make the player pick which combats to take and which to avoid. The need to conserve "magic points" would make the player roleplay the Helghast in an appropriate manner. Like a fearsome spider that *could* use brute force to slaughter a large amount of prey, but which prefers to stalk its victims in the shadows to conserve energy, the Helghast would operate covertly, inflicting terror on its enemies when they least expect it, so it can preserve "Magic" points until it needs them.
