Man, I just checked up on an old forum and was blown away by how many assholes were on it. Not only that, but you can't post anything without someone yelling at you and then locking your post.
I'm glad to have this sanctuary to come back to. Even if it does swear-check.

I completely agree, Zipp. I do not post--indeed, I have never posted--on any other web forum for all the reasons you mentioned. - There is usually a huge list of rules and subclauses that everyone is expected to know.
- Then there are the hidden 'unwritten' rules that if you break you also get gagged or banned for.
- Or how about the fact that the mods on many forums run the places as though they were God?
- And the way that longtime posters/mods talk to newer posters as though they are beneath contempt?
- And the way that longtime posters and mods seem exempt from many of the laws they put down for other people, indeed, often becoming nothing more than Trolls, despite undoubtedly stating explicitly somewhere in their miasma of rules that Trolling is not allowed.
- Mods often flame posters with impunity; but try flaming a mod who's made a mistake and you get a ton of abuse.
- Everyone on a web-forum usually seems very surly and unfriendly. A first post is usually responded to with a flame, or arrogance, or an ignorant comment about how this rule has been broken, or that comment is stupid--baiting the newbie, in other words.
Generally, I consider many people on those forums to be people I wouldn't care to meet in real life, so I have no desire to talk to them via the internet. If they intend to act like morons, I'll avoid their pathetic stupidity. This forum, however, has somehow been overlooked by the spamming, trolling, flaming scum so prevalent on other forums. Posting here is a pleasure. People are friendly and fairly polite. I don't recall any[/b] trolling, baiting or flaming at all in the 6-7 months I've been active on this forum. Perhaps Lone Wolf fans are generally much less stupid that many other fan-groups. Good. We don't have (or have any need for) a huge list of rules and laws regulating posting 'Do's and 'Don't's--because posters respect other posters. Wow--that seems to be an entirely new concept for the internet. :-\ I must admit, for a couple of months, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop--I mean, the internet is full of unfriendly people--but it didn't happen. No flames, no insults (beyond friendly teasing) and no high-minded mods banning/gagging people left, right, and centre. I doubt I'd ever migrate to other forums, because I think I've been 'spoiled' by this one! But it's certainly worth taking the time and reflecting on how good this forum is. Thanks for reminding us, Zipp. [Edit: OK, I just remembered there was that one Troll pretending to be Joe Dever who then metamorphosized into the world's worst Bond villain; but even he was fairly harmless in his idiocy.]

I've never had these problems with the ones I visit; of course, they're all generally gaming-related anyway, so maybe that's why.

Really? Try visiting the Megatokyo gaming forums. I will admit that gaming forums in general seem to be better, but Mods in particular really get on my nerves. A mod is around to MODERATE. Not lock every god damn post after getting one reply from a guy asking you to repeat your question.

My only experience of gaming forums (assuming we mean computer gaming) are the gamefaqs forums. The less said about those, the better.

Okay nix what I said about Gaming forums. Good god, I just posted a question an hour ago asking which version of a game was better. Instant lock by a moderator asking me why I'm posting this on a game forum I won't even go into counter arguments here.

ever been to www.rpgcodex.com/I go there because they usually have good opinions and ideas as far as CRPG's are concerned, but be warned, flaming, rudeness, etc. is a way of life there, and the forums are not moderated, basically anything goes. DISCLAIMER: i take no responsibility for anyone going over there.

Well, we have tried with the Honor Code... Like expressing affection for Q******. The fates of those who have tried are too morbid to even mention. Let's just say that there's plenty of reason for why they haven't come back and complained about their treatment. You mean We aren't? You don't read your own posts very often, do you? ;D
No, seriously, this forum has grown into a most friendly, peaceful and easily moderated haven for online Lone Wolf fans. Apart from in the case of that famous single troll, there's been a few more posts deleted here and there, but I think that the "victims" are quite well aware of the reasons why this has happened, since no-one has raised any issue regarding the deletions. No banning has ever had to take place. So, the PA forum crew thanks thee all for making this such a high standards hideout on the net, and for making us more or less redundant.

Well, ten ways of saying "Be polite!" hardly constitutes a huge, long list. But people who like Q****** are obviously masochists and therefore love their fate! ;D (Seriously, folks, feel free to post a thread as to why you adore the annoying Mary Sue; just because many of us disagree doesn't mean we'd flame you for it. Flamers are scum.) Hey, Thomas, I got a huge barrel of water for all the Project Aon Forum posters; could ya turn it into wine for us all? 'Course not! I can't read. I randomly type letters into Word and then spellcheck it to try and make logical sentences. It doesn't always wombat. I think everyone on this board shares those sentiments. Right, now I'm off to flame the newbies--d'oh! I only meant to think that. Damn voice recognition software!

Why do you say Q******? Can I say Qinefer without being censored or banned?
Is she like one of those demons who will appear in a puff of smoke and claim your soul if her name is said?
Why is it that ..oh, it's HER! ...aaaaAAAARRRGH!!

Aw, that troll was so sweet, though. Let's get together and cowrite a gamebook about the most under appreciated super-villain in history: Bungle.
Ah, Bungle. The times we shared.

I have to admit, I only read the first Legends book. Who is Qinefer?

I didn't get far past the first myself, due to availability in the US. Wasn't Qinefar from The World? Or did she go on to participate in that?
Was Thog in that too? He was just an intergalatic space barbarian, um, right?
