I have convinced myself that the message is a little joke added to an illustration of a filthy prison/dungeon cell. Problem is, I dunno which one. The Fighting Fantasy series has more cells than Alcatraz! Is the right one in Khare? Port Blacksand, perhaps?

You're not the only one! Hopefully somebody answers this before tomorrow when I leave. Here's my LW question: What city was once known as Ferndour? I'm fairly sure it is Shugkona.

Is the right one in Khare? Port Blacksand, perhaps? Nope, and nope. You're sort of on the right lines, but not quite!

It's the Sorcery series. The public lavatory in Mampang, I think, which has all sorts of weird grafitti, such as "Be open-minded - cut your head open" or "Please wash your hands - use the goblin provided". Weird stuff like that (I haven't read Sorcery in ages!)

Yay, NS! To clarify, it's in the latrine in the mampang Fortress. Someone has scrawled on the wall in the illustration: VENI, VIDI, VOMITI, which roughly translates as 'I came, I saw, I puked'!
Your go, NS.

Very, very, roughly. "Vomiti" (in that form) is a participle, a verb used as an adjective. Kind of like "baked" is a participle in the sentence "we ate baked beans," but a verb in the sentence "we baked some beans."
So a closer translation is really "I came, and I saw a pukey thing."
"I came, I saw, I puked" should be "Veni, vidi, vomui" in real Latin.

LOL! Yeah, well, I never claimed to be a Latin scholar. As I've said before, all I know for a certainty is that ROMANES EUNT DOMUM does not mean "Romans go home"!

No biggie, outspace, Latin as a language really died out a while ago, as I'm sure we all know. Now it's only used to translate old texts and impress kids at parties.
Not that I have something against it, or anything.

Don't forget its use in the scientific names of plants/animals, etc.
Though to me it just makes more sense to use the common names anyway.

I don't know much Latin but I'm fluent in Geek. Didn't there used to be a quiz on this forum?

Bringing this back to Trivia...
The current Lone Wolf question is: What city was once known as Ferndour?
Relenoir, I believe Black Cat answered that it is Shugkona. Is this correct?
And North Star, we await your non-lone wolf question. I'll give you another day to think about it, unless you're ready now...

Rel is off to Disneyland...we'll have to wait for him to come back to get the confirmation that I have the right answer. Anyway, we still have the non-Lone Wolf quiz going on.

Not from a gamebook, but a fun trivia question nonetheless Who is the only human character to have been played by the same actor throughout all the Star Wars films? NS.

Is this a trick question? The only actors (AFAIK) to appear in all six films don't play humans.
