MrEldritch--I'm extremely impressed, except . . . I took Elendurin as a title rather than an actual name, so there is one other that you've missed. That said, well done! for getting the other three (I thought Black Vein Prophecy in particular was fiendish as you don't know your name at the start of the book!). As for the missing one, think non-fantasy . . . I'm rooting for ya! Re: Hitchhiker's film--yeah, it's a bit pants, really. Could have been much better, but there's still some good stuff in there. The link is somewhat obscure. I'll give it a couple more days and if no one's got it I'll post a clue.

Technically speaking, in Creature of Havoc, when you regain your memories, you realise your name and it is stated too.

Nope. YOU have no given name in Creature of Havoc, just a title/rank SPOILER:Commander of the Galleykeep. Similarly, in Masks of Mayhem, YOU are the 'ruler of Arion'--a title rather than an actual name. MrEldritch got three of the books, and I'm guessing he's going to get the fourth very soon.

Don't you have a name in Magehunter? I've almost totally blocked that book from my memory, on account of it being absolutely awful, so I could well be wrong.

Again, no, I'm fairly sure that in Magehunter you have a title--that of Magehunter, curiously enough! I actually rather liked Magehunter, and the guy who wrote it--Paul Mason--is a member of both Demian Katz' Gamebooks Mailing List and the Fighting_Fantasy_Gamebooks Mailing List, funnily enough.

Got it - Appointment with F.E.A.R - Jean Laffayette AKA The Silver Crusader.
Not Steve Jackson's finest hour, that one, and the godawful attempts at humour didn't help (Michael Blackson? Oh you are spoiling us). Weakest of the "name" adventures in my opinion (I must be the only person on the planet who likes Sky Lord!).

Woo-hoo! We have a winner! Well done, MrE--Jean Lafayette from Appointment With F.E.A.R. is the correct final answer. I quite like AWF, despite not being much of a superhero fan, and the bit where you go into a store and buy a copy of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain always amuses me. As for Sky Lord--make that two of us. I like the somewhat anarchic nature of the gameplay. What other gamebook offers you the chance to beat up a Blob with various pieces of equipment, engage in a true ship combat (tricky!), and fight an enemy known as a Red Mancunian?! (That's not a trivia question, by the way! ) MrE, we await your question with eager antici-- --pation. (Still no takers for my obscure Hitchhiker's trivia question, then?)

Okay...whilst we're on the subject of comically named monsters (I'm guessing Martin Allen is a Leeds or Liverpool fan and he drew on inspiration from his own experiences at away matches) and following on from the hilarious "Michael Blackson"....
...which FF monster is named after an 80s popstar?

I quite liked Appointment with FEAR myself, but then I'm a fan of the endless power routine (wizards are great fun, but boy are they limited).

...which FF monster is named after an 80s popstar? I don't know the answer, but, for fun, I'll say Michael Jackson: the more it goes, the more he looks like a Cener Druid that just went thru some dark rituals! ;D Or maybe the answer is "the-artist-formerly-known-as-Prince-that-is-again-named-Prince". Changing your name 2 times in one decade just proves that he is evil! PS: sorry for all the fans (if there's any) of those two pop-stars

(I'm guessing Martin Allen is a Leeds or Liverpool fan and he drew on inspiration from his own experiences at away matches) . . . or a City supporter?

I'm glad to see that the Trivia Topic was rejuvinated. It was looking pretty dead there for a while.

I just wish there were questions going that I had a shot at answering. I feel so deprived--I've never played a Fighting Fantasy game book.

Sorry, Zipp, I've been too busy recently to attempt any fiendish questions, and Star Wars rather bores me, but hopefully I'll have a bit more time in the coming weeks, without hogging the thread and depriving other madmen of their moments of fiendish madness! Mwahahah. *coffcoff* @ DF: You've never played a Fighting Fantasy gamebook? You've never lived! Mind you, people are always telling me to 'get a life', so maybe I haven't either, and I've read them all . . . You could always have a rogue stab in the dark at my non-FF question.

Is that the question about the TV show I've never seen and the movie I fell asleep during?
