Another complete guess - both sections are missing. If that's not it I'm giving up.

Hey hey! We have a winner! ;D
The answer is that neither page exists! Despite having a final section number of 285, both Black Baron and White Warlord are actually missing 7 numbered illustrations, meaning they only have 278 numbered sections. It is likely that this was a numbering error on Joe Dever's part, because both Emerald Enchanter and Scarlet Sorcerer have 278 numbered illustrations with no numbers missing.
Nice one, Doomy! You're up next.

Well, I amaze myself with my ability to identify errors in books I've never read.
Here's a Lone Wolf question:
Who is described as "the conqueror of Cloeasia"?

Qinefer? Sorry people! Not funny, NS. Them's fightin' words. Besides, we all know it's Gashgiss the Dark.

I was lucky--I’d actually read that just recently, so it was fresh in my mind.
Okay, in keeping with the “other gamebook” questions, here’s one from “the Badlands of Hark” by RL Stine.
How do you remove a Harkian Glamp from your arm in order to prevent it from killing you?

Wild guess, but maybe apply salt?

Well, you need to apply fire to remove D&D green ooze. Maybe it's something like that?
NS.

Do you have to write it a poem, like the Fiend from the Crypt in the GrailQuest series?

That's an awesome guess, but... no.
