OK, I admit it's actually pretty drab and dreary today. I was just trying to cheer myself up. But as I'm sure you've noticed, one of the most interesting things about living in Scotland is that we don't have seasons, just weather.

I am not going to disagree with you there! Love the fact that you can go outside in the winter and do not melt in the summer! Al

I'm making the most prominent english-speaking countries a bit separate. You say that, but I think I may be the only English speaking Canadian on this site! I think the other two Canadians that I know of are French speaking Canadians (I know one is for sure) Just a comment, and so everyone knows, it is a boring day at the office today, which is why so many posts! Free time=more posts sorry if you are sick of me by now! Al

As for members from Africa, I only met one guy from Southern Africa at TotS, but there's a couple of guys from Asia (Malaysia and Singapore).

Another French Canadian up here! Al, don't be sad if you are the only English speaking Canadian here, it's only making you more as an unique person.

Another French Canadian up here! Oh, there is other members from our part of the world, but they stopped posting a long time ago... Al, don't be sad if you are the only English speaking Canadian here, it's only making you more as an unique person. I think that to be a Canadian living in Scotland and having both nationalities is enough to be considered as unique. ;D

I think you would be surprised as to how close the connection between Canada and Scotland is... almost every Scot I have met has a close relative in Canada... which means that there are lots of Canadians out there who are probably eligable to dual citizenship. Like me Al

This is hardly surprising considering the numbers of Scots who ended up settling in Canada after the Highland Clearances.

Ah, the UK people awoke, and now they are in a close fight with the rest of Europe for the first place ^^
Nobody outside of Europe and North America, though.

Like me Al I'm not surprise at all: a lot of Scots took part of the invasion of the New France, including during the battle of the Abraham's Plains in 1759. Following their victory, a lot of Scottish came from the UK and created new settlements across the country.

You guys miss what I said... close relatives, like aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings... people still alive now who emigrated within the last 30 years, it is remarkable. I knew lots of Scots immigrants growing up (given that my parents are Scots immigrants to Canada), but literally EVERYONE here has a relative in Canada. I heard once that there are alive today 15 million people who were born in Scotland, meaning that over 10 million people have left Scotland, something to think about, eh? Al

Australia is Oceania. So here is your first non American/Europian vote...just for the record.

I thought Oceania refered to the whole region, including New Zealand and the small island states like the Federated States of Microneasia (whose name I rarely get a chance to use!) But I have been wrong in the past. I just found this really interesting site from Australia, it is a web journal that outlines the rise of the undead in Australia, very well done... www.livejournal.com/users/scarecrowster/2005/01/01/Check it out if you have a chance, Al
