Then... hooray for Oceania! I'm surprised we don't have a single member from Africa, though. Not too surprising, I don't believe the books ever made their way to Africa. Same with Asia. Hawkeye was discussing with me the dificulties of finding the books there, I don't remember how he himself got them.

Yeah, but it's a shame. Project Aon has made the books accessible to the entire online English-reading audience (which includes most Internet users) free of charge. I don't know if translations are in the site's future, but I'm sure they're being considered, since the international audience is so large. I wish there was a way to get the word out about PA.

Translations fall into that wonderful grey area of copyright. Some languages are obviously still in print, French, par example, so we can't use the copyrighted text of the French editions, and it would be rather unsporting for us to translate the books into French ourselves, and it would probably lead to the French editions being discontinued. Until the foreign language editions revert back to Joe, PA won't be releasing any translations. Besides which, we still have plenty of books left to release in English first! And I think we would likely use the PA editions as the translation source, since many translators apparently take great liberties with the text to translate it, sometimes introducing their own errors.
BTW, does anyone know how many languages the LW books were translated into? I know the following:
English (Complete) French (Complete?) Swedish (part)
That's a very short list, and a long way from completion. Anyone able to add to it?

Hi Outspaced,
Something for sure, the 28 Lonewolf gamebooks was edited in french + the four Grey Star books. Other book like the Magnamund Compagnion, Skull of Agarash, etc , was not translate in french, in my knowledge. And I don't remember to see Freeway Warrior in french neither.
Black Cat can confirm this.
As for other language, I don't know.

I believe the entire series, 1-28, were translated into Italian.
The first twelve LW books were translated into German and Malay.
The first six LW books (at least) were translated into Greek.
Book one (at least) was translated into Hungarian.
The first 11 books were translated into Spanish.
The first 12 books plus the MC were translated into Swedish.
The first four books were translated into Bulgarian and Portuguese.
Not so short anymore, is it?

Yep, I confirm that all the gamebooks of GS and LW were published in French, but now it seems that the GS books are not in print anymore. The MC and the SoA weren't translated, I can't seem to remember seeing any other gamebooks made by JD in French. As for other languages, I think there's a site somewhere about the Czech translations of the books. And finally, I seem to remember that there was a member from South Africa on this forum, but he didn't made 10 posts before his disappearance.

Would South African be Dutch or Afrikaans, though?
Bulgarian, Czech, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Malay, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish.
Am I remembering correctly that some of the books were also translated into Japanese?

... Am I remembering correctly that some of the books were also translated into Japanese? Yes, you do. - I saw a cover of one (think it was FftD) on the net... - don't remember exactly where though.

Not a different translation, then.
That reminds me! There were some Italian translations as well, right?
Were the books ever translated into Dutch? That's another major Western European language not yet confirmed/denied. I'd have thought Western Europe would be the main overseas market (English-speaking countries aside)

Ah, but my point was that these countries probably never read Lone Wolf in the first place, and honestly, what are the odds some random search will turn up Project Aon, you'll check it out on a whim, and then decide to try one of the books? Do we have a single person on Project Aon who wasn't somehow affiliated with Lone Wolf before this, or made aware of it by someone who was?
