Outspaced will be able to confirm if we've already been down this route, but it might be worth a punt. Heck, Project Aon has been looking for Trevor Newton for years. Anything is worth a punt.

Then I suppose we'd need to find his next-of-kin. The book I looked at today featured many illustrators who are now long dead, so that's not why he's not listed in it. Gary Chalk and Brian Williams weren't in it either.

I'm a time served insurance claims investigator plus I'm close to completing a masters degree in historical research. Did you ever find this guy or can I maybe have a crack at locating him?

Wow, I'd forgotten all about this thread. Yes, we have managed to successfully contact--and receive the permissions from--all the illustrators of Joe Dever's work. Thanks for the offer of help, though.
