I have addressed a few of the first problems reported by eastpaw. I will get to more of them as I have time. Which, of course, will be in a few weeks, unless I get feeling rebellious, as I did today!
(I added a blue "- fixed" to the ones in his first post that I have done)
Edit: I don't know my colors very well... The added text is red, not blue. ha!
Edit2: Now, I've got blue and red text - red means I don't intend a follow up on what I said, and blue means I'm going to come back to it. I've responded to the first 3 reports...

I added a bit of information to my post, mentioning how many times I died in a hardcore campaign.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to do this, but I'd like to place my name in the hat of folks willing to volunteer to beta test your program. i just recently discovered this, and from the perspective of a man that has bought all of the Lone Wolf books on three seperate occasions becau8se I loved them so much, this is one of the most awesome things I have seen on the net in quite some time. I am willing to assist in any way you need to help this project out.....

Hi, Dallas, would you mind posting your system specs? I imagine that would help Dave decide how helpful you could be. To help you with that (in case you need it)... Operating system: Processor: RAM: Graphics card: Edit: Dave, sorry I haven't done further testing since my last post. Things have been hectic recently. Am aware that you've made changes to my post and will be careful not to overwrite everything this time! Edit 2: Regarding Book 2 Equipment section (exchanging weapons) - it is indeed open to either interpretation. Considering how sadistic JD was in books 2 and 3, perhaps your reading is the right one. Edit 3: Woohoo! Nice fixes and changes, Dave! Edit 4: Regarding Doomy's comment on Play Cartwheel and Dave's response - the silver token was necessary to prevent penniless players from having no chance at all of surviving the next sections. Of course, that's still a really slim chance, but JD's evil like that, haha! Edit 5: You're doing this for Grey Star as well? Huzzah, Dave!

Operating system: Microsoft Vista Processor: AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ 2.4 GHz RAM: 1.0 GB Graphics card: ATI X1950 HD card with I think 256 or 512 MB ram I am thinking that should be suitable.

Dallas, thanks for your interest! I have a good half dozen people testing for me right now, so I don't think I need any more help in that area.
Hopefully, you will get the release version quite soon!

Beta testers, I have responded to everyone's posts of bugs and suggestions. I have fixed a few more bugs, and implemented a few more suggestions. Please review your posts, in case I have asked for further information or clarification on any of your points.
Thanks again for your testing and experimentation!

We "impatient types" thank you for instant combat. I confirm that the issues raised in my first post have been dealt with one way or another. There're a couple of matters in the second-from-last post on the first page that seem to have escaped notice though.

Book 2 section 321 does not give the option of using hunting. - I don't know how you could go hunting in the middle of the ocean... Doesn't hunting include fishing? - Dave's response: Since the meal is already of fish, and is considered poor, I don't see how *more* fish would make it less poor... Sorry, for me Hunting does not include fishing...Book 1 Section 238 - You only get +2cs for the surprise attack in the first round - it has been given in the second round as well. - It is the combat with the Vordak - maybe I have got the reference incorrect. Dave's response: it is section 283, and the combat works correctly as I have just tested it. The game does show the +2CS being *removed* from your total, you you may have seen it on the screen again, and thought that it was adding it again, when in fact, it was removing it.

Hardware: Computer: Compaq Presario C700 (a really cheap laptop), bought in January 2008 OS: Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit CPU: Dual-core Intel Pentium, 1.6 GHz RAM: 1 GB Hard drive: 100 GB in several partitions (70 GB for Windows) Problems: - The file stdout.txt has "an" twice in the message about no config file. (A minor quibble, I know...) - fixed - The window occasionally repositions itself. I often have AIM or something running and want to see all of 2 or more windows, so it's annoying having to move the window around. In particular, I noticed this when starting an adventure and the window changes its size. -it should only do it once, though... I think I'll keep the current behavior, unless others also mention it.- The certificate is worded rather oddly. Shouldn't it be "named" or "namely" instead of "name"? - And yet, that is how the certificate reads according to the original artist - I may address this in the future, though, since you are right.- The backpack area is slightly too big for the window. - It depends entirely on what resolution you play the game at. In widescreen resolutions, it *really* doesn't fit, and even if it did just barely fit, so you could see all 8 items, then in books 13+, when you can have 10 items, it wouldn't fit again. So, I'm not too concerned about this one.- Weaponskill can still be somewhat taken advantage of, because the game picked a new weapon at the start of book 2. I saved and reloaded the campaign before that. I think to avoid cheating, the player's Weaponskill weapon should be selected at the beginning even if Weaponskill is never selected, and that weapon should be the one used every time the player chooses Weaponskill or tries to choose it. - true, but I think it's okay. There's no guarantee you'll ever get the one you want...- The equipment selection counts, say, "Two Meals" as just one item. Was this intentional? It could be interpreted either way, although I tend to treat "Two Meals" as 2 items, a Meal and another Meal. - I've taken the approach that if Joe is only giving you 2 items in the beginning, that "2 Meals" should count as 1 unit. If he's letting you choose a lot, like 6 things, then I count as Meal as individual... Kind of subjective, I know...- I somehow got starvation damage in book 2, possibly when I spent a crown on a meal. - it was probably on the ship, due to a poor meal with the sailors or the captain... unless you can specify the section that you are certain it happened in, I can't do much to check it out. All my testing has shown that the various meal eatings are correct...I've only played once so far, and died to the Helghast in Book 2 by the Szalls. I liked the program overall. It was great not having to manually track stuff like healing, and often I lack the self-discipline to enforce rules, or I'll open both paths in Firefox in different tabs out of curiosity, etc. It feels to me like Seventh Sense was the way LW was meant to be played all along. Thanks, Dave! Edit: I have some screenshots. What should I do with them? - Send them to david.olsen@projectaon.org

The following problem has so far gone unmentioned, so maybe it's just me. Not sure if Dave can do about it anyway, or even if he needs to as it might just be that my PC needs a setting changed somewhere.
When I installed Seventh Sense and told it to download the files it wants from Project Aon, the software appeared to lock up.
What happened, on my system at least, is that Norton interrupted SS from accessing PA by displaying a dialogue box asking for user confirmation that this was OK.
Fair enough, except this appeared beneath the Seventh Sense screen, and was completely hidden, causing the appearance of a crash except I expected it and knew to move the SS window out of the way to reveal the hidden prompt from Norton.
Sorry for not mentioning this earlier, but as I say I'm not sure if it's even relevant to the test since it appears to be an external problem rather than an issue with Seventh Sense itself.
-Pretty much just an issue with your specfic machine/software. I can't think of anything that I could do in my project to alleviate such an issue.

Good slaving away there Dave. It is indeed fortunate that one of us is being forced to code his fingers to the bone for the greater good; perhaps slightly less fortunate – for you at least – that you’re the magnanimous soul in question. That being said, here's more for you to do:
Options, Video (as part of the Options menu), and About all have Close. - fixed, or at least "changed"
Ps. When clicking "Check for Update" I'm told there's one available. You haven't been holding out on me have you Dave...

Ironically, the update available message is the result of another small bug that I fixed... So while, technically, yes there is an updated version, no it's not available!
