There is one minor things that you changed that I'd like to mention that I preferred in the previous version however. In the previous version if something changed on your action chart, it would automatically go that particular page of it to show the change. In my opinion, it would be nice if it still did that, or maybe if that were an option. It's back in. Thank for the suggestion!

Dave: Many thanks for the wonderful program. This new version really was worth the wait. ryukatana: Doesn't Rhygar buy it no matter if you pass him the spear or not? "Does he? Oh well, I still don't want to feel like the bastard that didn't give it to him when I was going to get the Sommerswerd (regardless of whether or not I'm aware of that or its properties). I mean, seriously, 'oh, you'll hold off the invulnerable Helghasts... Cool, let me just take this spear and go... What, this spear? Oh yeah, it kills them... Okay, see ya.'"

ryukatana, after all you can still give the Magic Spear to Rhygar, can't you? If you make sure to [spoilered] take Animal Kinship you are even able to survive. (At least in the PA editions..)

I mean, seriously, 'oh, you'll hold off the invulnerable Helghasts... Cool, let me just take this spear and go... What, this spear? Oh yeah, it kills them... Okay, see ya.'" That bit always makes me angry whenever I get to it. The way I see it, Lone Wolf gets rewarded by acting in a non-heroic fashion. Keep the spear, and you're fine, yet you condemn Rhygar to a pretty nasty death. Rhygar wants to go out with glory, holding them off while you escape, yet without a magic weapon he's pretty much instantly killed, or toyed with. It makes his death a useless gesture that achieves nothing. Giving him the spear means he has a chance, and more than likely will manage to take out a couple of Helghast. But of course, if you do that and haven't taken the mainly useless discipline of Animal Kinship, Lone Wolf is dead. It's wrong, and no way of jiggling the paragraphs or tinkering will make it right, save for a complete re-write, which will never happen. So, I just have to work past it, always taking Animal Kinship at the start of book 2 so I don't feel bad. As for the hardcore playthrough from Seventh Sense, well, Rhygar's just out of luck. With only 5 disciplines for the whole series, I'm not taking Animal Kinship.

Well, I guess it is one of those choices that happen when the hero is not just a run of the mill hero but an epic hero with a long-reaching purpose.
Rhygar's death is not meaningless, he could certainly delay your pursuers even by a few moments. However, there is no point in him even living if Lone Wolf does not. Sure, the 'easy' heroic choice is to give him the spear, and 'nobly' die later. And then Zagarna kills every Sommlending and Durenese person, then carries on the conquer the world enough for Naar to win. Ultimately win, destroying Aon itself.
In this case, you must make the hard choice, and deprive Ryhgar of something that will mean his death. Even though it seems the wrong thing to do, even though I am sure it could haunt Lone Wolf the rest of his days, he has to do it because there is a greater weight of morality on it to be the 'right' decision.
Rhygar may well believe he can take on several Helghast and win. He cannot, his mind will be shredded pretty quickly. Rhygar may well think no Helghast has infiltrated the tunnels. He is wrong, and LW will die if he cannot defend himself or skirt around the danger. Rhygar may well, if he knows LW has the weapon, hate LW for not giving it to him and damning him to die. Lone Wolf can make a choice that stops blood being directly on his hands, but it certainly doesn't make it the right choice. That would make giving up the spear, for a hero, a selfish choice to assuage guilt and wimp out of condemning one person to save everyone.
Of course, then we get to the amount of people that die if they are Lone Wolf's companion! Captain Prarg and Banedon aside, Lone Wolf should ditch anyone who offers to help him the second he can! The man's a fatal jinx!

;D
I'm not saying the choice isn't unpleasant, and one I'd like to avoid too, but I really like that it exists, and that it gives the weight it does to the rest of the epic!

Okay, folks, 1.4.4 bugfix release is out. God willing, this one should tide us over until book 5!
(Boy, I'm glad I had this week off from school!)

On the contrary, I'm now even more impatient for book 5 because this way of playing the books is so much fun!
(Though I have the worst luck when trying to roll combat skill...)

I started in on book 5 last night, but school starts up again tomorrow, so there's no telling when it will get finished.
I'm as anxious as anyone to have the whole Kai series available through Seventh Sense.
