Version 1.5.3 is now out. No major bugfixes or changes, other than multi-OS compatibility. The location that the game uses for downloading files and keeping save games has changed.
I can't think of any compelling reason for Windows users to upgrade to 1.5.3, but it's there if you want it...

Okay, so it came to my attention that the new package for windows was not working, because the new physfs.dll file (smaller!) was looking for an MS 9.0 runtime file... I have now fixed the problem, and re-uploaded the full installer and upadter packages.
So, if anyone out there is getting an error like this when you first try to start the program...
This application failed to initialize properly ( 0xc0150002 ). Click on OK to terminate the application.
then, you should download the updater package from the downloads page. It will replace the faulty .dll file. Sometimes Microsoft makes me so irate...

Sometime between my last post and this one, I realized that I had accidentally included the "debug" version of the game, instead of the release version in those "fixed" windows packages I put up yesterday. So... I fixed them again... If you see a black console window that pops up behind the main game window, full of weird messages, that's the debug version. You should definitely get the regular version by re-downloading the update package.
Windows users will note that a couple of my improvements for the next version are in place already... But I'm not changing the version number... too little a change.

Hmmm...will people save and treasure their debug versions and try to do odd things with the game? In the emulation community, debug modes or pre-release ROM files are sought after.

Anyone wanting to use a debug version could just build one from the source... I'm not trying to make it a mystery or anything, but it definitely doesn't belong in the main package!

Hello folks! I've released a small update to 1.5.4, it adds the following features:
1) RNT guiding - you can "guide" the selection of the Random number while the table is scrolling onto the screen. You press arrow keys (or numpad) to tell it which area to focus on. Try it, it's cool! And since the RNT is different for every book, you have to figure out the "sweet spots" for each one... It's one of the Gameplay options, so you'll have to start a new campaign to play with it, as the default setting is "off".
2) Profile-based PA license acceptance - You only have to accept once per profile, instead of every time you start a new campaign. Gets you right into the action!
3) Different user-selectable zoom levels for each action chart page. This is especially useful if you want to see the entire backpack at once, or have widescreen, where the default page size resulted in somewhat truncated view of disciplines/backpack/etc.
Also incorporates a different cover-downloading process, and the option to delete covers - good for duplicates. Caveat: If the cover you're trying to delete is contained in the installation directory, instead of the new place (User folder), you'll have to delete it manually. This caveat will only affect people who downloaded covers with version 1.5.2 or earlier.
Okay, there's the scoop. Windows packages and Source package are updated and available. Mac OS package coming soon!
edit: Okay, I just re-named the source package to the right name, so it should be available via the download link on my website. Sheesh!

Feature Request: see how many restarts/deaths each profile has in its current game - it would be a mite irritating to accidentally keep working on a game with a death one forgot about, only to discover that on HOF submission.

Not a bad idea... Should be easy as pie to implement, too. I hate to have such an ugly piece of statistical information in the main menu, though. I'll have it appear in the profile selection screen, and in the tooltip of the main menu "Resume Campaign" button.
