Thanks for all of these detailed bug reports. I shall definitely be looking into resolving at least most of them before the next release, if not all. Except for the crash-on-click while loading bug, the rest of those linux bugs could be related to the physfs library you are using. Have you tried it using the actual physfs included with the source package? It has a couple of small fixes. As per my note here: projectaon.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=seventhsense&action=display&thread=1700&page=1#29805Diffing your version with the most recent official release (I realize now that I should check the possibly-altered Debian sources, but they are based on the most recent official release at least) shows only a single change which should have no funtional impact. I will try compiling and using yours when I get a chance, but if I am not mistaken it seems unlikely that my library version is the issue (especially since the errors being *reported* at least are file read issues, not stack overflows or bad pointers as might be more expected from a search gone awry). When I get a free moment I will be trying a new 10/20 character build destined to die and restart a lot, so you can expect more whining, bitching, and complaining, hopefully in detail! ;D

You say, "should have no functional impact", yet it does. By the way, that change in the code was not effected by me, but by Sam Lantinga, the creator of the SDL library, who is a guru when it comes to cross platform coding. He fixed it, and if Sam says it needs fixed, then I agree!
Let me know the results of your testing - especially if your succesful in compiling the lib. Thanks!
(p.s. I correctly used the word "effect" - It bugs me when people mistakenly use "affect" for "effect" and vice versa - they have distinctly different meanings, both as verbs and nouns)

I'd love to see the comments on that one. Huh. And yes, I saw what you did there! The fact that you bothered to point it out suggests to me that I mis-used one, in which case I blame the amount of sleep I have(n't) been getting lately, as said errors generally bug me as well. I'm too lazy to look for it. (Coincidentally, I hear that lack of sleep affects one's affect as well . . . *groan*) [ Also, "especially if your succesful in compiling the lib." == grammar badger fail. ]

You didn't mis-use one at all. I just see the switch so often on various forums as well as in papers that I grade that it drives me nuts to even think about it. Pretty funny that I said "your", though. In my defense, I've been ill all day, and not operating at my usual level. That said, I've taken the day to do a bit of programming on Seventh Sense, so it hasn't been entirely a bad day...

Just minor error. Version 1.5.4, custom rules - custom weapons rules Book 4, sect 56, when fighting Wounded Guard, I think this enemy should be classified as a Bandit, so D'Val's Sword should add + 5 to CS. Agreed. fixed. I also addressed a ton of issues on page 8 of this thread - Instead of doing a massive quoting job, I just edited the actual threads where the bugs/suggestions were reported.

Just some minor errors.
In Book 4, in sections 94 and 158, where you lose your Backpack, and fail to found a new one (in section 167, or later in section 2) maybe captain D'Val should offer you a new Backpack, along with items he offers you in section 12.
Also in book 5, section 27, you should not be able to purchase more than one bottle of each type of elixir, as the herbmistress offer you only three bottles.
And also when LW is infected with the Limbdeath, do not apply dualwield bonus (if chosen).

Thanks for pointing those out Honza. I'll be sure to address them for the next release!

Hi, every time I start book 1 it crashes. I uninstall seventh sense and reinstalled it and it doesn't work and it won't let me re-download the first book.

It would help to know what OS you're using, what version of the program you're using, and whether it has previously worked or you've had this problem from the start. By "it doesn't work" do you mean that it still crashes when you try to start book 1, or that it now fails in some new way? Do you get any error messages when it crashes? Finally, have you tried downloading and starting another book - if so, does that work? (Some of those questions may not be necessary, but more information is always good when tracking down bugs.)

I'm experiencing a problem similar to that which Cleave reported. I'm using 1.5.4 on a 64-bit Vista laptop, about fourteen months old. I downloaded and installed Seventh Sense yesterday, and experienced the problem immediately.
When I start book 1, regardless of whether I make any changes to the default rules, the progress bar will get about halfway, and then the program "has encountered an error and needs to close". The Seventh Sense window itself becomes greyed-out like any other program in a "Not Responding" state.
I have just tried downloading Book 2 and starting that, and it seems to work, although I haven't tried Book 2 with any cover art.
Edit: Aah, I just noticed the top stickied thread. Apparently you're already aware of the problem.
Edit2: Another problem. Having played directly through books 1 and most of 2, with a customized ruleset and no manual saving, I've arrived at the Sommerswerd and find that it gives only a +1 to CS, plus my Weaponskill bonus. I don't yet know whether it applies the doubled damage to undead. I have the named-weapon special bonus rule applied; is that the cause?

To encourage the use of other weapons, the sommerswerd gives a very tame bonus against most enemies other than darklords. Edit: (Just in the "custom weapons" mode...)

I don't know if it's an error exactly, but the program allows you to wear both a padded leather vest and a chainmail vest, which it probably shouldn't.

Take a look at this from the "Rules Sticky/FAQ Thread" in the "The books and the World" forum:
There are lots of interesting tidbits in there.
