destroyed in LW16?
Any reasons? Or motives behind it?

Because of the whole "Enemy dropping their weapons in shock that LW wasn't wielding the Sommerswerd" thing is my best guess... Plotwise - I guess it's to minimise the connections to the Darklords, should some misguided person attempt to resurrect them

Your two favourite weapons are the evil pair? Y'know, I think this says something about the people who tactically avoid using the Sommerswerd...

I always imagined Joe would sit down at the start of each book and say to himself "right, I need to find a use for the Dagger of Vashna / Helshezag so that people won't get browned off lugging them around". And a day arrived - when he started writing Book 16, perhaps? - when he said to himself "I can't be arsed!"
It would be arse, never a$$

Your two favourite weapons are the evil pair? Y'know, I think this says something about the people who tactically avoid using the Sommerswerd... Well, you see, I have this theory that the Sommerswerd is cursed. It's an insidious curse since it doesn't actually ever directly harm you. In fact, it seems to help you fight in combat but secretly it makes your enemies MUCH stronger. Now Helshezag on the other hand is much more friendly. It takes your life away but it's honest about it. I trade it life, it gives me combat skill. None of this "here's 8 combat skill but I'm gonna go behind your back and give Zakhan 20" trickery. Helshezag is just nice and honest and upfront about the entire deal. So, as you can clearly see, Helshezag = friendly, caring businessman Sommerswerd = conniving, backstabbing politician I rest my case.

The Sommerswerd is decieving. Though you get the +8CS (yay) it isn't worth it in the end.

Most of the time it's very worth it, especially when you can use the "extended combat results table". Where can I find an onscreen version of that anyway? Was it in one of the LW Club Newsletters that I haven't read yet, or was it "cut out" by the person who so kindly donated them for printing on Project Aon? ~Relenoir, confused as usual after a 12-hour work day.

. . . the "extended combat results table". Where can I find an onscreen version of that anyway? Was it in one of the LW Club Newsletters that I haven't read yet Must be, 'cos it's definitely there: www.projectaon.org/en/pdf/lwcn/Newsletter_29.pdfI hate editing that Newsletter 'cos Word won't allow you to have one landscape page in the middle of the document--it changes the whole thing to landscape. I had to create the chart as a separate file and then insert it into the finished Newsletter. And for the sake of page-number consistency, I had to remember to insert a blank page into the main doc which I then have to delete after inserting the table page. *crappy M$* But it's there, anyway!

Okay, thanks outspaced! Looks like Newsletter 29, then, which I haven't reached. I'm still around #20 or so, give or take. Much appreciated!

Is it only me or when you read the NW29 Combat table there's only an empty white and grey grid? Either there's some trouble there or it's incompatible with certain acrobat readers (I've tried 5 and 6). BTW, the weapons are destroyed in LW16 so Ixiataaga can better butcher you in LW17... gues how many readers would try to throw the Dagger at the Deathlord More to the point, it seems to me that JDever wanted to strip you off the magical weapons which don't register in Naar's (and the Deathlord's too) scans, in books 17 and 20 to enforce some strategic (and sommerswerd-less) gameplay for books 17 and 20, similar to Book 12 (you could use the magical Darkands weapons in that one, but in the Magnakai series your scores were also quite lower). Having a Darklands weapon in those books would have affected the gameflow in 17 and 20 significatively.

I've just downloaded and opened the file available online and the table displays perfectly. Perhaps some of the data got corrupted when you downloaded it. All I can suggest is that you try flushing your internet cache and re-downloading the file. (It was a blooming pain to create as well, but I'll stop whinging. )
