Will your fail-safe, cheat-proof, unfixable, unpretendable method of checking the hardcore without dieing achievement still work with the other soon to be released OS versions?

Well, yes, but with the advent of releasing the source, anybody who has an inkling of programming skills could produce a "Hall of Fame" worthy gameplay file that would pass my checks, but they still could have cheated to get there, with no way to detect it at all.
So, we'll simply to appeal to everyone's sense of honor (this is Lone Wolf, after all!) and ask them not to cheat!
Speaking of which, Sam just sent me the updated other OS packages today - so, as long as my newborn son cooperates, those could go up tonight!

i have a question, how is it possible to get through that one guy (the guy who is walking through a castle, with armor on, with thing in his hand, a prince?) easily. ive always died at that part a TON of times. its the only thing that makes me question the series and i like it alot

Not closed - you're on it now. You just forgot this part of the instructions :
It takes me a while to get around to it, sometimes!

might be amusing to list combat counts (or lowest EP, heh) . . . I took a 17/23 combat wombat through HC intentionally getting into all the fights I could [after accidentally overwriting my completed BTB 13/22 :-(] , and it was great fun. That completely avoidable giak+doomwolw-then-4-doomwolves bit in book 1 is a wee mite rough . . . especially if you roll solid < 3 on the last one. Spear weaponskill is kinda awesome on HC though! And pretty much necessary with lower CS and no animal kinship . . . durned Helghast.

Hall of Fame updated with latest entry (first one of 2010!)
Nice ideas, curunauth, but impractical for a couple of reasons: visual space (I want the HoF to be easily read - single line entries per person), and inability to go back and get the information on current entries (I toss all of the resumeX files that I get once they are confirmed and entered on HoF).
Edit: As I look at the hardcore HoF, I am impressed by the fact that of all of the succesful completions, there are only two folks who opted not to use Healing. Not only that, but one of them (Kamikaze) opted to take the ultimate challenge of 10/20 intial stats, plus, he did not even take a single Combat Skill-boosting discipline. And made it through without dying/restarting once! Amazing!

Yeah, I've been staring amazedly at that one . . . I wonder how many run-throughs it took. I've been trying to hoard potions with my 10/20 in prep for Magnakai, but I think you are guaranteed a number of decently challenging fights . . . otoh, anytime I get spear weaponskill I try for a long-shot Magic spear, 'cause I'd rather not bring animal mastery through 6-12 . . .
