hmmm....I'm probably a moron...but I just can't figure out the code in book six...
*looks at feet* I think my problem is counting the cities. >> what counts as a city and what doesn't?

Your problem is that you're looking at the wrong map. The code is in Book 5, not Book 6.
Erm, now that I'm done being a smartass...
The first part is fairly obvious, yes? The oasi(?) are the palm trees along the road.
A lot of people have problems with the cities. This is because of an error in the way that the artist drew the map. The correct number is 7.
The last is fairly straightforward too, since all the islands are in plain view.
Hope this answers your problem well enough.

To clarify, Gary Chalk's error is that he left a flag off the city of Kuchek--cities on the map at the front of the book are denoted by the flag flying atop it.
Hope it helps!

That's "oases." Rules for Pseudo-Latin Plurals: Words ending in "us" -> change "us" to "i" Words ending in "is" -> change "is" to "es"

I'm sort of glad I'm not the only one who had a problem with this city problem. Darn sloppy map drawer.
