and that means?

It means what it says. Normally, there is an index.htm in the 'root' of the PA directory which, now I check, should link to statskeeper index.htm anyway. I just checked my offline copy, and the links work correctly. Have you downloaded the most recent Base Package as well as statskeeper?

I have downloaded and unzipped both the base backage and all-the-books in a special folder. I daren't unzip the statskeeper in the same folder since that's how I got problems the last time.

Statskeeper should unarchive to a "statskeeper" directory inside the main PA folder. Looking at the ZIP file, it seems that it hasn't been ZIPped using that full directory structure... Meh. Anyway, create a directory called statskeeper inside your PA directory, then move the statskeeper.zip file into it and unzip the files there. It should create the following: You can then load either this index.htm file or the one from the PA directory into your browser--and if the stars are aligned it should work.

Same problem as before. I can open the statskeeper, but when I click on the title of a book, the link does not work.
EDIT
Should I copy the 'en' file inside the statskeeper?

Hmm. Strange. No, the 'en' directory should be in the same directory as the 'statskeeper' directory.

books.htm faq.htm list.htm
are absent.
Is it possible to copy them from an older version of the Project Aon download?

Although I have these files from an old installation, they aren't needed. I've just done the following and found statskeeper works correctly.
1) Create a Project Aon directory. 2) Download the Base Package, Statskeeper, and 01fftd. 3) Move the ZIP files into the Project Aon directory. 4) Extract the Base Package into the Project Aon directory. This should put 2 directories (images and style) and 3 files (index.htm, license.htm, and readme.txt) into the Project Aon directory. 5) Extract the statskeeper.ZIP to a directory called statskeeper inside the Project Aon directory. 6) Extract the 01fftd ZIP file which will create a directory called "en" inside the Project Aon directory.
I don't know what else to say...

Same problem. I can read the text without the statskeeper, but the statskeeper does not work.

Sorry for the delay. The ZIP file should now have the correct file structure.
Regarding the links not working, does that mean that you get a "File Not Found" kind of error, or does it simply just not do anything?
I haven't read the whole thread, but have you made sure that you have Javascript is turned on? Those links use Javascript.

Frustrated with the Statskeeper? Go check out my web-based Action Charts! The Action Charts currently support all four (4) of the Lone Wolf series (Kai, Magnakai, Grand Master, and New Order) allowing you to save and load your action chart data using cookies, as well as supplying a Random Number Generator and a full-fledged Combat System. You can access the action charts by visiting my staff page: projectaon.org/staff/ericOr by visiting the Main / Books page, selecting a book and clicking the 'View Online w/ Action Chart' link from there... I will soon have charts posted for the World of Lone Wolf (aka Grey Star) series and the Freeway Warrior series as well... All feedback and suggestions are welcome (and encouraged) Thank you for that. I have no problems with the old Statskeeper. Even the one I downloaded twelve years ago has stopped working.

Thank you for that. I have no problems with the old Statskeeper. Even the one I downloaded twelve years ago has stopped working. I've been using the old statskeeper for several years. I love it so much I added full functionality for the New Order series. I have tested my code and find it to be working fine on common Android browsers. Most of my testing and usage was on Opera Mobile (not Mini). I use it to read the gamebooks on my phone with Paw Server for Android. If you are interested, I can upload the modified files to some location and you might like to incorporate those into the old StatsKeeper download. Let me know. May Kai and Ishir watch over you.
