Incidentally, I can't see how you go back to the main menu without quitting to the system and reopening the program. The menu has other stuff it can do, like changing profiles, makes it worth putting that button in. A nice place to see all your medals in the menu screen would be nice, too.

I have minor bug(s) to report in SS 1.6.1:
- when I use the option to lower my starting CS/END a window for typing new value appears - but if I hit Cancel (or press 'Esc' button) the value goes to the least possible (5 for CS / 15 for END); independently of the value I chose; the Accept works fine
- when you are asked to agree to PA licence, text in the left pane says: '...by reading the licence terms (displayed on the right side of the screen) and clicking "I agree" button at the end ...' but the button at the bottom of the right pane is labeled "Accept"
Don't take this as nitpicking but I just noticed someone had problem finding this button and while I'm sure the problem wasn't in its label I thought I'd point this out anyway.

pi4t, I tested that section out, and it works as expected for me. If you don't have Mindshield, you will lose -2 CS for the combat. But Mindblast *does* give you a +2 CS bonus. So, perhaps you didn't have mindshield, and just missed the animation on the first round? It only shows those things in the first round of combat (unless something changes mid-combat), so you wouldn't have seen it after that.

You can't yet go back to the real main menu yet while in-game. I've got it on my to-do list. As to Awards, in the main menu, if you click on profiles, you should see a little medal beside each profile that lets you see what medals you've earned.

Yes I see this problem. I have now fixed it for the next version. (Hitting cancel will now *not* change your score.) I don't mind nitpicking! In fact, that's a very good point - I definitely want my texts to agree. I have fixed the "notice" section to say "Accept" button. Thanks!

But (just a suggestion). When you have no GC, and you're selling your equipment (book 6 section 76 and 98) when you selling weapons, you could easily sell also weapon-like special items (Sommerswerd, Dagger of Vashna, Magic Spear, Jewelled Mace, Silver Bow of Duadon). Could there be a popup menu, for example, if you choose to sell a bow: which item to sell? - Bow - Silver Bow of Duadon You could do this bartering also in book 2 in Ragadorn, but this time you cannot have any weapon-like special items, so it doesn't matter. This is a great idea, and I'm working on it right now.

I've now incorporated that selling choice idea, and I'm going to go back and check on any other sections where you can sell an item, even in earlier books, since you might have picked up a "named weapon" (like Prince Pelathar's Sword, or Giak Spear), and be carrying another sword or spear, and when you go to sell the ordinary one, I want you to be able to pick the right one!
So, now *if* you have two or more or a certain weapon type, when you go to sell it, it will pop up a little dialogue asking which one you'd like to sell. However, if you have one only if that item type, it will just go ahead and sell it. So, if you are dumb and sell the Silver Bow of Duadon for 5 gold, that's entirely on your own head!
Once I do that, I'm ready to package the 1.6.2 bugfix release.
(Note to Topel and/or pi4t - I still haven't found what is causing your crash. Try the 1.6.2 and see if it stil happens. If so, please send me every .dat file inside of your "profiles" folder. including profiles.dat, resumeX.dat and campaign.dat, along with details as to what you are doing to get the crash. And I'll see what I can do to fix it!)

Hmmm... I can't find any other moments of being able to sell weapons in the Kai series other than book 2, sec 266?
Does anyone know of any others? (I only did a simple search for the terms "buy", "sell" and "purchase" in books 1-5.)
EDIT: for sylistic consistency and less visual clutter, I'm changing the stores in book 6 to match the one in book 2 to have no text, but rather a simple round green or blue button for buying or selling.

Hi Dave, great program you've made but I'm puzzled about one of the gameplay rules, Weaponskill\Healing stacking. It says at the end: "when unchecked Lone Wolf only receives the bonus specific to his current book series".(Kai,Magnakai OR Grand Master). If I understand right "by the book" rule should be that when someone start with book 6 none of the kai disclipines bonuses should be given. How it is that I have +2 CS from the kai mindblast skill?

By the book, the Kai discipline bonuses are carried over to the Magnakai series if you complete all 5 books in the Kai series, until they are superseded by the Magnakai upgrade. IE- if you get Weaponskill in sword, you keep the +2 CS if a sword is equipped until you select Weaponmastery as a discipline and get +3 CS in selected weapons, or +1 EP in non-combat sections for damage sustained in combat until you pick Curing, which gives you +1 EP in non-combat sections regardless of how you sustained the damage. This was Joe Dever's reward to people that faithfully followed the series.
The stacking rule is a home-brew variant, granting +5 CS in a weapon you have both Weaponskill and Weaponmastery in, and +2 EP in non-combat sections once you pick Curing. However, for either to work, you'd still need to complete all 5 books in the Kai series first.

kamikaze hit it perfectly on the head. I think Joe referred to it as a "loyalty bonus." If you've played ALL of the Kai books, you get to keep your disciplines' effects in the Magnakai books.

1.6.2 is now out. All bugs/issues reported so far (except for Topel's and pi4t's inexplicable crashes) are now fixed and further bug reports should be based on the 1.6.2 release. Thanks!

Just small bug: book 6 award "Guardian of Castle Taunor" In its description is "...from within Tuanor's chapel." And another one: book 1 sect. 283 fighting vordak (without mindshield) - 1st turn: +2CS bonus (surprise)
- 2nd turn: -2CS (end of surprise), -2CS (Vordak's mindforce)
- 3rd turn: +2CS bonus (surprise)
- 4th turn: -2CS bonus (end of surprise)

I have managed to find one bug:
Book 3 section 86 - U can open the chest with dagger or bone sword. I had dagger but my equiped weapon was spear. I had weaponskill with spear and I still got the +3 RN bonus because it was counted based on my equipped weapon.

Fixed the Award typo (Tuanor), and also a typo in Rendalim's Elixir (Endurnace points) Vordak combat: Oops, in fixing the one for book 6, I broke it in other ways. This is now fixed, but I'm going to do a little more testing to make sure it's good across the board (ANY combat with modifiers) Thanks Honza - great bug report! I had weaponskill with spear and I still got the +3 RN bonus because it was counted based on my equipped weapon. Ah, obscure bug! Nice find! It is now fixed so that you only get a bonus if either 1) You have both a Dagger AND Weaponskill in Dagger, or 2) you have both a Bone Sword (not a regular sword) AND Weaponskill in Sword
