I don't know if it's a bug or not but I can't get past one point in the chasm of doom. It's the random number selection for when you are running down the road to Ruanon. You get snipered and on a 0 you die.
I've played the book through three times now and each time my random number was a 0. Now once was ok, twice I was a little peeved, but three times seems a little ridiculous (technically 1/1000 chance).
It takes so long to get there it's getting annoying to have to keep restarting on the same point.
EDIT: Make that 4 times a 0 is rolled. EDIT: Fifth time's the charm... got an eight. Don't know if it was bugged or not because I closed the program twice started a new profile and played just that book to that point then went back to the previous profile and got through.

I think it's normal, and that you just experienced a remarkable turn of events.

Hi all!
I was pleased to see the recent Lone Wolf fan activity and development of such amazing tool like the Seventh Sense, which adds an impressive visual dimension to reading this stories (I was really impressed when I first saw it!). The LW series is one of the most spectacular books of my childhood, and now I would like to read it to my 5 years old son who is already very interested in science-fiction and fantasy stories.
However, I have a little trouble with running the Seventh Sense (freshly downloaded version 1.7.4) on WinXP SP3 - I searched this forum for an answer, but have found nothing. First my automatic download of books is not working, in spite of having correct internet/network settings (I tried it at different networks, with/without proxy etc - every application using internet runs correctly except the Seventh Sense refusing to download the books). Therefore, I tried to import the Standard ZIP file for the first book downloaded from the AON homepage, and put it into the Seventh Sense/data/books/books1 folder. After opening the application, selecting the first book and accepting the game rules, the application crashed repeatedly. Afterwards, I deleted the default compressed 1data.7z file from that folder suspecting it is in conflict, and after that the application continued correctly, displaying the License page (thus I suppose that the imported zip file was correctly recognized, since the license html file is inside it), however, without any Accept button at the end of the license text.
Nevertheless, I suppose that the 1data.7z file is crucial for reading the book, and should not be deleted. My question is, what is the correct way of importing the standard zip file (manually downloaded from the AON homepage) into the application? I have not found any description of the necessary steps, and apparently an intuitive way is not working.
Any advice would be highly appreciated, it would be a pitty if I could not read the books with this great software...
Thanks in advance, and greetings from Slovakia Juraj

Juraj, Thanks for the compliments! Sorry for the troubles you're having - two issues are at play: 1) The new version of the .zip file from the Project Aon website is not yet compatible with my program (It will be eventually, but not yet!). So, you must use the "old" version of the .zip file, which is the one downloaded by my program. It's also available via this direct link: www.projectaon.org/staff/david/Books/01fftd.zip(I'm not sure why Seventh Sense would have a problem dowloading - I've not encountered that issue before. Perhaps Windows Firewall is blocking the program from the internet?) 2) by deleting the 1data.7z, you deleted all of the book 1 buttons that appear in-text, including the "accept" button for the license, and everything else that would let you actually play the book! If you put it in your recycle bin, just "un-delete" it. If you bypassed the recycle bin, you'll need to reinstall the program. (Can you download any of the book covers? If not, again, I think it might be a Windows Firewall issue) Let me know if the above solutions work for you and if they get the program working as it should!

Hi Dave, many thanks for your prompt reply - you solved my problem easily. :-) I forgot to check the firewall settings (shame), but anyway, I solved the problem by putting the old versions of the standard zips (you linked to) into the folders - and the application does not crash anymore, everything works now correctly. :-) I appreciate people willing to donate their spare time to something what is enhancing/enriching our minds - and fantasy books are definitely very useful for training of our neurons and imagination (I'm telling this being a nuclear physicist - without imagination our mankind would be much less developed ). Thanks again and keep doing the good job. Juraj

Great news! I'm glad it's all working for you. I grew up with these books in the mid 80's and they do have a wonderful, imaginative style of writing.

Book 3, Kalkoth award. I passed sections 105 -> 293 -> 109 (killed 2 Kalkoth) -> 235 ... Then at the door to Ikaya I killed the third one (section 147), yet I have not got the award... I do not know how you count the slayed Kalkoth, perhaps in section 109 it triggered only once... This seems like bug - I'm putting this in the Award System thread for kamikaze to look at. All other bugs reported by Honza are now fixed for next release.

My contribution on bug-spotting! - In the Sixth book, when you take the offer to buy the horse with money or 2 special items, if I select the first item then the UI goes back to the book letting you choose again the buttons "money" or "special item" (don't remember the exact names of the buttons). I didn't try it, but it seems to me that you can give him an item and then the money. Is it intentional or the money button should be grayed out?
This is now fixed so that if you click the Barter button and trade your first item to him, the Pay button greys out, so that your only further option is to complete the trade.

Book 7, section 76. Version 1.7.4, prodigy mode.
Fighting with Lekhor, I was equipped with Magic Spear and Shield.
While hanging on a rope/Lekhor's body, I could use the Shield, which is correct in Prodigy mode, and have been unarmed (-4CS), which is also OK because Spear is two-handed weapon, but I still get the +3CS Magic Spear bonus...
EDIT: just some nitpicking, misspelling 'Zhada' -> 'Zahda' in Fine Broadsword description (found in section 236).
EDIT2: also in section 118 Fine Broadsword gives only +2CS against Zahda

Still looking into this... LW shouldn't get the bonus if he's unarmed... Not nitpicking at all, actually. That's why it didn't give the right bonus - it was looking for an enemy named "Zhada"! This is now fixed for the next release. In honor of your great bug finding, Honza, I've added a line with your name in the credits of the next release. Thanks for all of your help!

I found something really minor in Book 2, section 238 As soon as you enter the section there's a ")" under the numbers of the Cartwheel. When you make a bet everything is as it should be, then when you click again on Play Cartwheel for another round of the minigame, the ")" appears again. Strange, I cannot reproduce this bug on my own system. I understand exactly what is causing it, too... I will attempt a fix, but I won't know if it works unless you report to me. So, on the next release, please look at this section again, and tell me if the problem persists. Thanks!
