Yeah, you guys are right. Like I said, I didn't even consider that the Sommerswerd had melted in that passage. Didn't notice it until someone brought it up yesterday on the posts.
I was too busy being melted my-own-damn-self.
I'm guessing Joe wanted the Dakomyd to die in a certain way, via the lorestone, and thus made getting the Lorestone the only possible way to defeat the chump. Then he just forgot about the Sommerswerd. This isn't uncommon in the Magnakai adventures. The Sommerswerd plays the biggest role in the Kai and Grand Master adventures, when section leaps concerning it are all over the place.
My guess is that after moving on from the Kai Adventures, Joe simply forgot in certain circumstances that the character would have the Sommerswerd, potentially. I mean, he wrote each book as a stand alone in a series, meaning of course, that you don't have to have played any before jumping in to a random adventure. As is stated at the start of each book.
And can we blame him? Well, yeah. I don't. It is hard to keep all that information in mind. Especially for an enemy who isn't supposed to be killed (story wise) with anything but the Lorestone. Now, he could've just erased the "Your weapo disolveth" sentence, or, I think this would've been better, you end up having to fight a second battle with the Dakomyd, this time automatically going for the Lorestone at the end of combat, perhaps realizing this is truly the only way to, as Joe so elegantly puts it, bring time up to date with the Dakomyd.

I have two suggestions for people who nitpick like that:
1. go watch Galaxy Quest
2. have a shower once in a while

*LOL* Which part of "minor glitch" isn't clear?

It's the minor glitches in life, like alergies, that are sometimes the most annoying.
