Having done my own fanwork on many things I know how annoying it can be getting other people jumping in telling you to do this and that, especially time consuming if you actually decide to do it.
However, one thing I think would make Seventh Sense really great would be sound effects. It would add to the interactive feel and turn it almost into one of those old classic text based computer games. Having terribly limited knowledge on how this would actually work, I have no idea if it's even possible.
The idea would be as follows (all sounds fade in and out):
Combat - when you hit the fight button the sounds of battle start, swords clinking, screams etc. It would go as long as the number generation sequence.
When clicking item buttons the game makes a 'flaping' sound like something being stuffed into a bag.
These would be the least difficult as I assume the sound effect is simply tied to the button as a trigger - although I don't know if you'd manually have to add it to each one individually or if you could tell the program to activate X sound when any button of Y type is pressed.
The other thing though I think the books could use is ambient sound, perhaps triggered by sections. Right now I can think of 5 ambient sounds that would work:
Wilds - so trees creaking, animals chirping etc
Urban - horses, carts, human chatter
Sea - ships creaking, sea gulls, water splashing
Wastes - wind shrieking and ground crunching (rock or snow)
Dungeons - water dripping, echos, faint shrieks etc.
Those I don't know, perhaps a book has a default sound (the majority of the environment type the book is set in) that it always makes but those sections in different areas have a bypass on them. That would save having to tell it to activate sounds for each section individually.
I've looked through lots of the free FX sites and all that stuff seems to be available, just requires stitching together.
The story so far, rules etc at the beginning of the book could have a sort of medieval folksy music playing in the background.
Absolutely love Seventh Sense, it brings the books alive in a way the html doesn't. I can almost hear the sounds of swords clashing when I fight, but I think it would be far more immersive if there were actual sounds.
Again, I have no idea if this is easy, or even possible. I've had some limited experience in playing with sound files and could have a go at helping if it's of interest and help is needed.
Cheers again,
Hellebore
