I have a question regarding the no Equipment Achievements (for example, in Book 3). When you say no Equipment, do you mean you cannot start or pick up any equipment that is located on the Equipment tab, or no Equipment whatsoever? For example, can you pick up the Blue Stone Triangle or the Stone Effigy (both Special Items)? With no Equipment and no Effigy, I don't think it's mathematically possible to defeat the Akraa'Neonor within the round restriction.

I'm pretty sure it means you start with nothing but the map and gold, and you're not allowed to loot anything (not even the BST). Regarding the boss, If your combat skill is 18, it is possible (although highly improbable). 18 - 4 (unarmed) - 22 (enemy CS) = -8 You basically need to roll VERY well in all 7 rounds. CS 17 or below is impossible, as it pushes you into the next bracket, making the maximum possible damage in 7 rounds to be 49. *failhorn* So I guess get that one in Prodigy mode, and take mindblast. Edit! Apparently you can cheat! I won't give it away, as it is the final hint for the reward.

Yeah, there's one or two places in the book where you can actually use an item, but generally speaking, even just using equipment that you find in the books is a no-no.
So, before you leave section 1, you've got to either drop or put into storage ALL equipment (weapons, Backpack Items and Special items). You must also fight every round of every combat bare-handed (unarmed). There are various sections that, by visiting them, will disqualify you because of the built-in use of certain items/equipment.
Having said that, you can still pick up a couple of things... See the hint Ofecks mentioned, which makes the final battle easier.

Thanks, I figured it out. You're right, it is necessary to do in Prodigy, or with a high CS in BTB.

I've been trying this one myself... it is stupidly hard. Even on Prodigy, even using the "cheat". Played probably a dozen or so attempts. Out of those: 4 were failed due to not killing the boss within 7 rounds. 3 were failed due to taking damage from a Kalkoth. 2 were from getting a 10% instadeath roll falling into the caverns (both times were back-to-back, too. argh). 1 was from rolling very poorly against an Ice Barbarian. And the best... 2 were from rolling instadeath after successfully beating the boss in 7 rounds. Edit: Just did 3 more attempts. Eaten by Kalkoth all three times. GAH

Alas, most "Expert" awards will indeed take a lot of both skill *and* luck! Be sure that you are playing in Prodigy mode and use the "guided RNT" to maximize your chances of success, both in battle and in other RNT situations. (e.g. in book 2 - a Prodigy can ensure that they are *never* killed by a falling mast...)

Good idea! Because I'm not a big enough nerd, I'm making a database that has every RNT in SS so far, with values/guiding groups for query analysis. Eventually I want to have a form with some criteria which will give the optimal guiding group + keys for any given roll situation.
LOL.

Actually, don't you have to get the Blue Stone Triangle at some point just to get through the door in Ikaya?
