Good news - I finished section 7 out of 7 tonight! Now I just have to write a conclusion for the paper, and it's 100% (I'll call it 99% until then.)
It's very exciting to think that I'm *this close* to being completely done with this thing.

Unfortunately, classes started today, and I'm swamped until Saturday - I'll try to dive into it then!

Dissertation = 100% written!
I'll be sending it off to my committee chair this week, hopefully next week getting the graduate college stamp of approval (the meticulous checking of margins, etc.), and then sending reading copies to all of my committee members! I'm hopeful that the end of October will see me defending the document. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.
The best part is: Once I send reading copies - it's out of my hands! I can't do anything with it until after the defense - so, in a couple of weeks, I might be able to start working on Seventh Sense again.

"Defending the document" conjures up some interesting images in my head of you slaying the vile committee members while they try and edit your document.
Good luck, hope all goes well.

Nice imagery! I'll try to keep that in the back of my mind as they flay me with the whips of academia.

Nice imagery! I'll try to keep that in the back of my mind as they flay me with the whips of academia. As you behold your well-written Dissertation, the product of countless hours of work, you feel a cold chill run up your spine. A charnel smell betrays of the presence of the powerful creatures now entering the room. Several shapes swiftly move past you on misshapen tentacles, one nearly knocking you to your feet before you are able to draw a hand weapon to defend yourself. You manage to maintain your balance, but the creature now has hold of your precious document!
In the dim light of the chamber you can make out four creatures. The style of their clothing and nature of their chattering indicates that they were academics of some sort, but evil has twisted them into foul versions of their former selves. They crave only two things: knowledge...and human flesh.
The Committee is the only thing standing between you and completing your mission.
Doctoral Committee: COMBAT SKILL 42 ENDURANCE POINTS 65
Due the dim light and fatigue from writing the Dissertation, subtract 2 points from your COMBAT SKILL for the duration of the fight.
The Doctoral Committee is immune to Mindblast, but not Psi-Surge.

As far as great first posts go, that is one of the best ever! *bows* Thanks Dave! I've been a big fan of SS for a while, and LW for much, much longer.

I submitted my "reading copy" to my committee today - got a bit of paperwork to do in the interim before the actual defense. Degree checks, etc... Planning to defend early Nov (1st or 2nd week).
Book 11 = 10%
