Since finding Project Aon I have read thru the published editions hundreds of times and each time a new book is published i tend to start from the beginning of the series....however, its starting to get really old, and so instead of starting from the beginning i was thinking about starting off from the Magnakai series...however...i also dont really feel like starting off with the depleted cs and endurance of a new character. So I was thinking of starting off with an average character. what do you all think an average kai lords (above average for us narcissists!) ep and cs would be, as well as any special items, weapons and other goodies.... any thoughts?

Roll your CS and EP as normal. Then I would add the following items to your character sheet to simulate a typical character at book 6:
Combat enhancing special items: Sommerswerd +8 CS Silver Helmet (from Book 3) +2 CS Shield (various books) +2 CS Chainmail Waistcoat +4EP Padded leather jacket +2EP
Special Items: Dagger of Vashna Kalte Firesphere
Backpack: Rope Meals x3 Laumspur +4 EP x2 Alether +4 CS
Belt Pouch: 30 Gold Crowns + what you get at the beginning of book 6
And your choice of whatever's in the "equipment" section of book 6, within the stated limits.
Also you can give yourself all the basic Kai Disciplines, including in +2 CS Weaponskill, +2 CS Mindblast.
This should give you a reasonable "typical" character as if you had played book 1-5.

The Chainmail and Padded Leather are worth +4 and +2EP respectively. Don't think there's anything important you've missed, though. Just a few packrat favourites and maybe-usefuls (Jewelled Mace, assorted Special Items to trade in at certain points).

What I do is write my progress at significant points to a text file.
So I have files for End of Book 5 and End of Book 12, as well as the end of the latest Project Aon book (15). That way I can start my adventure from either of these two points in the future

Thanks Purple Turtle, thats legendary! On a further note any thoughts about the same topic, special items and weapons for moving from Magnakai to Grandmaster?

For what every average packrat should have at the end of Book 12, how about everything that this guy is carrying: (see what valuable information you're missing by not visiting www.towerofthesun.com) ;D

What use is the Jewelled Mace after book 5 anyways? I know it can be used once (don't remember where though, I didn't stumble on it this read-through), but is that it? Why can you carry it throughout the GM series if it's not much use? Same with the Crystal Star Pendant. It's not used at all in the GM series, not even as a good luck charm. Lone Wolf must keep it for sentimental value.

I believe that the Crystal Star Pendant can be used in Wolf's Bane, right at the start of the adventure, to prove your identity. Although I could be wrong... It's been ages since I've played it.

Lone Wolf must keep it for sentimental value. The jewelled mace can be used in book 14, but only if you don't have the Sommerswerd, the Dagger of Vashna or Helshezag. As for the Crystal Star Pendant, I remember that it had only 2 uses in the Kai series: in book 2, you can use it to take out some poison from your body, and in book 5, it just changes the scene where you meet Banedon to accomodate it with the fact that you already met him. Otherwise, there's no other uses that I know.

And that pendant still takes up one of your SI slots. I guess if it was a RPG, I'd carry it, but otherwise...it should have allowed maybe one reroll per adventure, to avoid those instant death traps at the end of most GM adventures. To reward those who kept the same character from book 1.

Consider that you find a Platinum Amulet in Kazan-Oud... but you can't carry it to the GM series, even if you need it in some books, more times that in the Magnakai series !!! And the Golden Amulet you use in Helgedad in the last book of Magnakai serie ? It can be useful, too... it works as the Platinum Amulet. Ah, you missed the Grey Crystal Ring in the picture ! It's stuff that doesn't make weight...
