Errata in 15- why change 'gods' to 'Gods'? Surely it is accepted practise to use a small 'g' to describe the 'gods' of a pantheon. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon_(gods) Or from Merriam-Webster..... 1god noun \ˈgäd also ˈgȯd\ Definition of GOD 1 capitalized : the supreme or ultimate reality: as a : the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe b Christian Science : the incorporeal divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit : infinite Mind 2 : a being or object believed to have more than natural attributes and powers and to require human worship; specifically : one controlling a particular aspect or part of reality 3 : a person or thing of supreme value 4 : a powerful ruler So you see to use the capitalised form is to change the meaning to a monotheistic one. Just sayin.....

Hmm..perhaps because in the lone wolf universe..Gods are still seen as real as opposed to the old gods in this world being seen as myths(Greek/Roman ones for example) by most people thus lacking #2's "requiring human worship"

This discussion has circulated in the past, and the final decision was thus: We have de-capitalised "gods" when it is not used in conjunction with a given name (contrast "the Gods Kai and Ishir" with "By the gods!").

Was there a reason for this decision?

Consistency. The original books were inconsistent on when "god(s)" took a capital G. By parallel with titles like "King", we established a rule that: - General references to "a god", "the gods" should not be capitalised.
- Use as a title ("the Gods Kai and Ishir", "God of the Sun") should be capitalised.
This resulted in a lot of changes in both directions. - We de-capitalised "Gods" in books 3, 5, 10, 15 (oddly enough!), 18, 21, 22, and 28.
- We capitalised "god(s)" in "The Story So Far" of books 8 to 10 and 21 to 23, all the Grand Master Disciplines sections, most New Order Wisdom sections, and the text of books 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 18, and 28.
