Why aren't they included in the Project Aon editions of the book? I realise that there are copyright issues with the original artists, but you do have permission to use all of Gary Chalk's artwork. Is there any reason not to use the covers done by him? The Front Covers are very tricky to get into the online versions since they generally look rather out of place. Also, Gary Chalk only ever illustrated covers for books 1-5. If we used those illustrations, books 6-20, WoLW 1-4, FW 1-4, TMC, et al would look a bit odd. Chalk's covers for 1-5 could be added into potential PDF versions of the first five books, but the succeeding books would look a bit odd without them.

I figured it was something along those lines, but wanted to know for sure. Thanks!
One thing, though: didn't Chalk illustrate the cover for Book 6? The one that depicts the Dakomyd?

You might be right. My own collection are the Red Fox editions with covers by Peter Andrew Jones, and I also have a few of the Beaver Books copies too, so I can't check. After browing KaiLord's website I was under the impression that only the first five covers were by Gary Chalk since they were obviously of the same style. And the books have had so many different covers over the years that it's difficult to keep track of them all! That's another reason we've eschewed using the cover artwork in the Project Aon versions, I guess.

Taking a look at my copy of Book 6 (Beaver edition) it definitely has a Gary Chalk feel to it, but I can't find anywhere that mentions the cover artist. It's probably under that rather big Gordon and Gotch sticker on the back cover...
It's also a good point about choosing which covers to use. We all grew up familiar with different covers, and I'm sure the Project Aon collaboraters are no different. Personally I'd go with the Chalk covers and the original Beaver covers, but that's what I know. I'm sure there are rabid fans of the Peter Andrew Jones covers, even though I can't see any merit in them.

Thanks for that link Thomas Wolmer, very interesting site.
My first five books are the Sparrow versions but I wouldn't care if they had different cover art.
As mentioned in the site that Thomas gave above the only complete set of the 28 books that is consistant is the Red Fox books so I would probably prefer to see those as the covers used despite the fact that I only have 13-28 in red fox print.
