Just wanted to say I purchased this It is gorgeous. Beautiful. Elegant. Whether you are new to gaming, or a veteran. Whether you are a Kai Initiate, or a Magnakai Warrior. This game draws you in at any level. Artwork, wording, mechanics, maps - all are as authentic as they come. I possess the last version in hard back format, and there is no comparison. The new version just is - THE version.

What characters do they have available in this set? Everything from "Heroes of Magnamund", or more?

Definitely going to get onto this. Does anyone know if the Kickstarter pdf will ever be released to the public? Kind of a dumb question, but I only saw the Kickstarter after it was closed so couldn't back it! Looking forward to getting stuck in though either way!

If your in the US and/or can make it to GenCon, Joe's going to be at the Cubicle 7 booth with the physical product ready for sale. Just a little over 2 months away!

What characters do they have available in this set? Everything from "Heroes of Magnamund", or more? Nope, only Kai Lords. The Adventure Game is a significant improvement over the Multiplayer Game. It has ironed out the problems that had. I'm not sure the many on one combat resolution will work well, but that remains to be seen. That said, it is still on the simple side for me. The adding of skills and traits is a big improvement, but only being able to play Kai Lords is a big limitation. A greater variety of combat options would have been good too - the combat rules are pretty dull in RPG terms. It does do well in the introducing new players to RPGs, but they are being introduced to a game with one character class, no magic, limited equipment, and dull combat. Also, something that all 3 LW RPGS have lacked for me - it needs to feel EPIC. Lone Wolf's story is one of legendary adventures and the games don't feel that way - particularly when the starting adventure is find a lost caravan.

Currently the boxed set does only include rules for creating and playing as Kai Lord PCs. However, there is a LWAG Heroes of Magnamund book on the release schedule along with the Realm of Sommerlund, Magnamund Bestiary as well as several other as yet untitled books to be released over the next year or so. I don't know exactly classes what the Heroes book includes but I would imagine it would be based around the Mongoose version.

I know a heroes book is coming, it just seems to be an omission from the base game, IMHO. It did with the Mongoose one, too. It was fine in the d20 version - in fact when I ran it, no-one selected Kai Lords.

I know what you mean, but I think with it being promoted as a 'beginner level' game (albeit with Master level rules included) starting out with just the one class to play was inevitable. It gives the younger or inexperienced gamers a chance to sink their teeth into the mechanics.

I can sort of see that, though I think it might be an oversimplification for the game. Other starter RPGs have more character options.
Still that was a Mongoose/JD/C7 decision, and if it works, more power to them.

Does anyone know if the Kickstarter pdf will ever be released to the public? Not legally, it's a Kickstarter exclusive.

There have been other companies that have released Kickstarter 'exclusive' stuff for sale. Of course even if it isn't released in the same format, the material could be reused in other products.
