So here we are,
I know this topic has already been discussed A LOT on projectaon, and no unique solution has been found...
I studied the numbers and came up with a new proposal I still haven't seen.... I am thinking about it and I don't know if this could become unfair later on, so let me explain how I think I could handle the transition in Lone Wolf Saga:
- The player could reroll its CS and EPs, adding 25 and 30, as per the instructions; should he decide to do so, he will lose the bonuses from the Lore-Circles (but not all the other bonuses coming from Armours, Weapons, Special Items (only the permitted ones) and Kai / Magnakai disciplines); starting from book 14 (the 2nd book of the Grand master series) he will gain the normal +1CS +2EPs per Grand Master Discipline acquired
OR
- The player could mantain its CS and EPs from the previous series: in this case, he/she will also mantain all the bonuses from the Lore-Circles (and will also obviously mantain all the bonuses from Armours, Weapons, permitted Special Items, Kai / Magnakai Disciplines); should he decide to do so, he/she will gain +1CS and +2EPs not only for the subsequent acquired Grand Master Disciplines, but ALSO for the starting 4 Grand Master Disciplines
In any case the Discipline's Bonuses will NOT STACK but the bigger ones will replace the lower ones, and never will the Player need to forfeit any Item beyond those not permitted by the rules.
In the first case the Player will end up with:
CS: (DIE) + 25 + Armours/Weapons/Specials
EPs: (DIE) + 30 + Armours/Weapons/Specials
while in the second case the Player will have:
CS: (DIE) + 10 + 5 (Lore-Circles) + 4 (4 Grand Master Disciplines) + Armours/Weapons/Specials
EPs: (DIE) + 20 + 11 (Lore-Circles) + 8 (4 Grand Master Disciplines) + Armours/Weapons/Specials
It all netting in at:
CS: 25 + X
EPs: 30 + X
VS
CS: 19 + X
EPs: 39 + X
The first case is a powerful +6CS, but at the risk of rolling a lower dice (I will make sure that the first roll will be "permanent" unless the book is restarted, and it will only be possible at the beginning of book 13)
The second case is a +9 EPs, but it seems to me a lower possible bonus in comparison to a +6 CS (that's 3 different columns in the Combat Results Table)
The alternative solutions seem to be:
- The Player keeps its current Scores and Bonuses (seems to me that the Grand Master books will become too difficult)
- The Player adds +15 to its CS and +10 to its EPs (I fear the Grand Master books will become too easy)
